Nixon and James are key accused in Kodimbala double murder case, claims victims' son

Mangalore, November 2: The Kodimbala double murder case has taken a new twist with the son of the victims revealing that two local residents were responsible for death of Baby alias Thomas and Mary.

 

Vimal Thomas, son of Thomas told media persons that local residents Nixon alias Avarachan and K J James Valladul were the key accused in the double murder, which occurred on September 26 at Undila village of Kodimbala in Puttur taluk.

 

Demanding the arrest of the notorious duo, he said that they were addicted to gambling and frequently used to seek money from Thomas.

 

He also said that it was Nixon who introduced Kamaruddin alias Sayyad, one of the two arrested, to his father.

Vimal Thomas also said that though Nixon and James were the key accused in the case, police have apprehended only the co-conspirators Kamaruddin alias Sayyad (25) of Kodimbala and Mohammed Rafiq (33) of Somwarpet.

 

He said that his father had sold their property in Kerala for Rs 60 lakh and had purchased a house along with land at Kodimbala for Rs30 lakh and jewellery weighing 40 sovereigns in possession of his father was not traced at the time of his father murder.

 

“Initially, we suspected that those who had murdered them had taken away Rs25 lakh and the gold jewellery,” Vimal Thomas said adding that suspicions were aroused when police recovered only a pair of earrings and a gold chain from the accused.

Mangaluru, Mar 29: Mosques across Karnataka are now turning into centers to create awareness against deadly coronavirus that cause Covid-19. 

The state government's board of auqaf has issued a notification to the administrations of all mosques to use their loud speakers to create awareness against the virus. 

All the mosques in the state have already suspended congregational prayers to prevent the spread of the virus.

As per the decision of the state board of auqaf, now all mosques have to play the audio clips that creates awareness against the virus in three languages. 

The clips will be played at 10 a.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. everyday.

Udupi, Jun 28: A student appearing for the Secondary School Leaving Certificate (SSLC) exams in Kaup taluk of Udupi district has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection.

Officials of the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) and Udupi District Health and Family Welfare Department have confirmed the report. 

The 16-year-old girl had appeared for the Kannada and Mathematics exams on June 25 and 27 respectively. 

Her throat swabs were sent for testing on June 27 after her father tested covid-19 positive. Today she too obtained positive report.  

The student is unlikely to appear for the science paper on June 29.

Meanwhile, health officers have ruled out the possibility of subjecting other students to covid-19 test as all necessary precautions such as physical distancing and usage of sanitization were taken in the examination centre.

Bengaluru, Aug 3: Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and his daughter have been admitted to the Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru for observation after testing positive for COVID-19. The Chief Minister is in clinically stable condition.

"Karnataka Chief Minister has been admitted to the hospital for observation. He is doing well, is clinically stable and will be monitored closely by our team," Manipal Hospital said on Monday.
"His daughter has tested positive for COVID-19. She has been admitted to the hospital," added the hospital in another statement.

Yediyurappa had on Sunday tweeted that he had tested positive for COVID-19. The Chief Minister, 77, said he is fine and is being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors.

"I have tested positive for coronavirus. Whilst I am fine, I am being hospitalised as a precaution on the recommendation of doctors. I request those who have come in contact with me recently to be observant and exercise self-quarantine," Yediyurappa wrote.
