Women urged to work together to solve their problems

Mangalore, November 2: Women should to work together in order to stop their exploitation, ensure them justice and create awareness among them, said Karnataka unit president of National Women's Front Shahida A.

 

Speaking at an Eid get-together organised by NWF at Talents Conference Hall in the city recently, she said that factors like culture, religion and language were not crucial in solving women's problems.

 

On the occasion, writer and activist Gulabi Bilimale, senior faculty of Roshni Nilaya School of Social Work Prof Rita Noronha, lecturer of Hira Women's College Ayisha U K, chairperson of Mahila Mandala Okkoota Vijayalakshmi Shetty, Mumtaz Pakkaladka of Talent Research Foundation and lawyer Nusrath Khasimji expressed their views on problems of women.

 

Representatives of various organisations were present at the evening meet. President of NWF presided over the programme. Fathima Naseema welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Zeenath recited a few verses from the Qur'an, while Dakshina Kannada district president of NWF Sameena Malar proposed a vote of thanks.

Mangaluru, Mar 11: Nitte Education Trust is among the top 50 reputed institutions in the country selected by NITI Aayog for setting up Atal Incubation Centre under Union government's Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) scheme.

NITI Aayog has sanctioned Rs 9 Crore to Nitte Education Trust for setting up a full-fledged Incubation Centre at Nitte, of which Rs 2.5 crores has been received as first instalment according to a press release here on Wednesday.

Atal Incubation Centre- Nitte provides start-ups with valuable guidance, technological aid, access to investors, networking and facilitating a host of other services required for start-ups to survive and scale. Start-ups also receive direction through the robust chain of mentors who give sector-specific information and real-time practical guidance.

Mangaluru, Jul 16: Streets in Mangaluru wore a deserted look as the city woke up to the first morning of the seven-day lockdown on Thursday.

The lockdown is being observed after the state government announced it as a necessary step to combat the spread of COVID-19.

The week-long total shutdown came into effect in the Karnataka's Dakshina Kannada district from 8 pm on July 15 till 5 am on July 22.

The state government allowed relaxation between 8am to 11 am for purchasing of essential commodities. A slight rush was observed during the hours of the relaxation.

Karnataka has so far reported 47,253 positive COVID-19 cases, including 27,859 active cases and 18,466 recoveries.

So far, 928 people have lost their lives due to the infectious virus in the state.

Mysore,  Apr 1: A team of the state Health Ministry on Monday visited the pharmaceuticals company whose several employees were tested positive for COVID-19.

The team asked the remaining employees to stay under quarantine in separate rooms.

"The department is investigating whether this company has got any connection with China or received any object which might have brought coronavirus with it," said Jawaid Akhtar, principal secretary of the health department.

Karnataka Health Minister on Wednesday confirmed that the current COVID-19 positive cases in the state stood at 101.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases have reached 1,637 in India, including 1,466 active cases, 133 cured/discharged/migrated people and 38 deaths.
