Over a dozen passengers hurt as Mangalore-Udupi bus overturns

Manipal, November 3: Over a dozen passengers sustained injuries when a speeding private bus skidded and toppled over the road near Katapady on Saturday.

 

The tragedy occurred when the driver of the bus plying from Mangalore to Udupi tried to avoid hitting an oncoming car after overtaking another vehicle.

 

The accident led to road block for a few minutes on National Highway 66.

 

The ill-fated bus bearing registration number KA 19, C 8811 belonged to 'Maroli Travels'.

 

The injured, who have been admitted to different hospitals in Udupi and Manipal identified as Shameem Ahmed, Prajna, Suguna, Mohandas, Jagadish,  Kiran, Sukanya, Lavita Kotian, Vishwanatha, Uma Subramanya, Rajesh, Ramachandra Prabhu, Sheshagiri, Jagadish Ballal and Kalavathi Bangera.

 

The condition of three of the injured passenger is said to be critical.

 

A case has been registered at jurisdictional Kaup police station. turns

Bengaluru, Apr 5: Fake news spreads faster and more easily nowadays through the internet, social media and instant messaging and such news about the COVID-19 pandemic have been labeled a dangerous “infodemic”.

These messages may contain useless, incorrect or even harmful information and advice, which can hamper the public health response and add to social disorder and division.

Asking people to avoid fake news on COVID-19, Hemant Nimbalkar IPS, IGP and Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration), shared a photo on his Twitter page and wrote, “One Mask For Ear Too"

Bengaluru, Mar 15: The Karnataka government has intensified screening all international passengers at airports by classifying them into three risk categories.

Passengers, who are symptomatic on arrival fall under risk category 1, those aged above 60 and have Symptoms fall under category 2. Those who fall in both these categories are being quarantined at designated facilities for 14 days from arrival.

Asymptomatic passengers arriving from any of the COVID-19 affected countries will fall under category 3 and will be advised to be under strict home quarantine for 14 days, Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said here on Sunday.
