The event was organised by 'The 3 Hungry Men' - comprising of Colin D'souza, Nikhil Pai and Rajat Rao at Biryani N Grills. According to a press release, the turnout was slightly lesser than expected due to the Bird Flu hoax around the region but none of the contestants returned empty handed as all received gifts sponsored by Goal Technologies and Bindu Jeera Masala Soda.

The winner of the competition in the Non-veg (chicken) Category Sonal Karkera said that he had a great time and that this was the first time an event of this sort had been conducted in Mangalore. He said that the biryani was extremely tasty and the competition was healthy and well organised. For the record, Sonal polished off an entire handi of biryani in 2 minutes and 16 seconds.

'The 3 Hungry Men' based in Mangalore is the brain child of the three men, and is a food certifying body of sorts. A website offers reviews of the food served at different restaurants and eateries in and around Mangalore.
