SMR Group's 'Westgate Heights' inaugurated

Mangalore, November 8: Westgate Heights, the latest venture of city based SMR Group was inaugurated on Thursday.

 

Located at Sturruck road in Falnir Westgate Heights has 20 flats with six-story apartments.

 

Mangalore Qazi Twaka Ahmed Musliya formally inaugurated the commercial block, Fr Ravi Santosh Kamath inaugurated the residential apartments while P Ramanand Hegde (Managing trustee of Mangaldevi Temple) inaugurated the lighting unit.

 

SMR Group Managing Director S M Rashid, KCCI president Mohammad Ameen, Kunhi Ahmed of H H Group, Ibrahim and Ramanand Hegde were present on the occasion.

 

Architect Damodar Shenoy and contractor Hassanabba were given a warm felicitation on the occasion.

 

The flat owners were presented with the house keys by Fr Kamath. Dr Hussain Kunhi, Roy Rodrigues, Yvonne Pinto and Florine Dsouza, flat owners attended the inauguration.

Belthangady, May 15: Carcases of more than 50 monkeys were found at Bandaru gram panchayat in the taluka here on Friday.

The carcasses were found on the Kundalapalke-Padmunja road in Bandar village. Locals had seen the monkeys’ carcasses night of Thursday and informed authorities about it.

Kaniyuru Health Centre’s medical assistant Swatantra Rao and Ujire health Centre’s Medical Officer, Forest Department staff, veterinarians and local Panchayat officials visited the spot.

Mangaluru, Mar 26: About 2,771 people are home-quarantined in the wake of the novel coronavirus in Dakshina Kannada district here, Deputy Commissioner said on Wednesday.

"Meanwhile, about 20 people have completed the mandated 28 days of quarantine, DC Sindhu B Rupesh said in a statement here.

More than 38,000 people from the district have been screened and seven are admitted and are under observation, he added.

Mangaluru, May 10: A young photographer has drowned in River Phalguni near Maravoor on the outskirts of the city.

The victim has been identified as Kaushik, 22, who was working for Diya Studio in Kavoor. A resident of Kavoor, he was the only son of his mother.

The tragedy occurred when he had been to the river along with four friends to collect freshwater snails.

It is learnt that local residents rushed to the spot when Kaushik’s friends raised alarm. However, they could not rescue him.

Kaushik’s body was retrieved from the water after sometime. A case has been registered at Kavoor police station.
