Kasargod, November 9: A tense situation prevailed in Kasargod district following violent clashes between activists of Democratic Youth Federation of India and Indian Union Muslim League, near here.
Stones were pelted at four houses and a car was set on fire in the wee hours of Thursday following the sudden recurrence of violence at Uduma-Mangad area.
The four damaged houses belong to M Indran Nayar, Shyamala, Samshuddin and Vinod. Glass panes of windows have been shattered. The car, which was partially burnt to ash, belonged to one M Mohammed Kunhi.
From the past few days, the region has been prone to instances of violence. The recent clashes broke out in the wake of alleged attack on a local leader of DYFI.
On Wednesday, a group of miscreants allegedly waylaid the motorbike of the president of Baare unit of DYFI Sudheesh (26) and attacked him.
A case has been registered at Bekal police station on the matter. The police have tightened security to curb the violence.
