policeMangalore, November 11: Continuing their effort to disturb the peace of society, miscreants have dumped flesh of pig near the entrance gate of a Masjid at Suralpady on the outskirts of the city.

Worshippers attending morning prayer at Mazharul Awaqif Juma Masjid were startled by the sight of dumped flesh early on Saturday.

As soon as the news began to spread local residents gathered outside the Masjid. The cleric urged the people to maintain peace.

Jurisdictional Bajpe police, who rushed to the spot in half an hour, seized the flesh and dispersed the mob.

Local residents are of the opinion that some miscreants have deliberately tried to spoil communal harmony in the region by dumping the pig flesh in the night to provoke Muslims, who consider pig as an unclean animal.

Following the incident, a peace meet was held under the leadership of Panambur ACP Kavitha and Bajpe Inspector Dinakar Shetty. Retired police officer G A Bava, Congress leader Moideen Bava, R K Prithviraj, Ismaeel Darimi, Abdul Majeed Suralpady and others were present at the meet.

It could be recalled here that some miscreants had dumped a severed head of an animal on a road-side parapet built by Hindutva outfits at Farangipet on the outskirts of the city two days ago. Local residents are of the suspicion that both incidents might be the handiwork of same group.
