Mangalore, November 11: Talent Research Foundation (TRF), Mangalore in association with Samanwaya-Muslim Shikshakara Sangha (SMSS) organised a programme on Sunday observing 'National Education Day' to mark birth anniversary of Moulana Abul Kalam Azad, at Talent Conference Hall in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammed Nazeer, Chief Planning Officer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat said that the district had been tagged as one of the cleanest in the country, but factually it wasn't so. Speaking on the problem of water scarcity, he said that there was a need to spread awareness in schools on optimum use and conservation of water, along with sanitation. Teachers should help create awareness in children in schools, he said.
The community of Muslims is in a bad position financially and educationally, in various places in the state and country. They face lot of problems. Lack of education may be the cause for this, he opined.
He lauded the efforts of TRF in conducting social welfare programmes in the region.
