Mangalore, November 12: In yet another attempt to trigger communal tensions in the region, miscreants have dumped a headless body of a pig on the premises of another Masjid at Mallur-Demmale on the outskirts of city.

This is the third such incident in the region in last four days. Local residents have linked the Monday morning's discovery to similar incidents reported last week from Farangipet and Suralpady areas.

The body, which is especially offensive to Muslims who consider pigs and consumption of pork to be unclean, was first noticed by a devotee who went to Masjid to offer Fajr Namaz at around 5 a.m.

As soon as the news began to spread, local Muslim residents gathered outside the Masjid in large numbers to protest the act of miscreants.

However, jurisdictional Kankanady police rushed to the spot immediately and brought situation under control. Security was tightened near the Masjid and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incidents.

It is immediately not known who dumped the pig's body inside the Masjid, but local residents have expressed suspicion on some communal outfits.

“This is the act of those miscreants who are repeatedly trying to spoil harmony of the society. They always try to trigger communal violence through such foul tactics especially during festivals - be it Eid or Diwali”, said a cleric of the same Masjid. tensions
