Dist BJP asks 'betrayer' Dhananjay Kumar to stop making anti-party comments

November 13, 2012

Mangalore, November 13: The district unit of Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) has expressed disappointment at the recent statements being made against the party and party leaders by Dhananjay Kumar, the newly appointed President of Karnataka Janatha Party (KJP) and former BJP leader.

Addressing media persons at a press meet in Mangalore on Tuesday, Monappa Bhandary, MLC and official spokesperson of the district unit of the BJP said that making statements against a party that reared him and helped him emerge as a leader does not suit a person of Mr. Kumar's caliber.

“He won four terms as an election candidate from the party. He was given a ministerial berth in the first BJP led central government in the country. He was given the post of the state government's Delhi representative. But he is not being grateful. He is betraying the party. We are pained by his attitude”, Mr. Bhandary said.

On a query as to why Mr. Kumar was not given the MP election ticket last time around, Mr. Bhandary said that party activists were not happy with Mr. Kumar. “He had completely forgotten the region once he got to Delhi. There was a general consensus among the activists here that he should not be given the election ticket which is why he was not given that chance. He must not forget that it is the activists who worked for the victory of the party and not him. He had lost the confidence of party workers. If he is out of the party today, it is because of his attitude”, Mr. Bhandary said.

Mr. Bhandary said that the dissidence of the likes of Mr. Kumar and Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will not have any bearing on the electoral results. “Dakshina Kannada will remain with the BJP. Nothing is going to make an impact”, he said.
