Kundapur, November 15: Two fishermen died in two separate accidents of drowning on Tuesday at Gangolli near here.
In one incident, Sheena Kharvi (55) slipped and fell into the water while heading into the deep seas in his boat 'Kanakadurga' late on Tuesday to fish. Other fishermen present in the boat saved him from drowning. However, he breathed his last while he was being taken to the hospital.
His body was shifted to Gangolli Primary Health Centre for postmortem, and later handed over to his relatives.
Resident of Koderi, Sheena is survived by his wife, two sons and two daughters.
Another fisherman from Gangolli, Sukra Kharvi (40), who left from Gangolli fishing harbour in 'Yaksheshwari Krupa' on Tuesday, is presumed to have drowned after accidentally falling into Pancha-gangavali river.
Efforts were made by the local fishermen to search for Sukra Kharvi, who had been missing since then. Members of the fire brigade were also involved in carrying out search operations for the missing fisherman. Sukra's dead body was later found on Wednesday evening near Alive.
Both cases have been registered at Gangolli police station.
