Inaugurating the programme, city police crime branch inspector Venkatesh Prasanna explained the aim, objective and significance of the very Deepavali celebrations.
He urged that the engineer fraternity to promote communal harmony and demolish the wall of enmity. “Build a bridge to strengthen the bond of friendship, fellowship and peace”, he said.
Deepavali is a row of lamps and well known as festival lights, which symbolize the victory of splendor over darkness, triumph of good over the evil, prudence over ignorance, he opined.
Prof. of Medicine, Dept of A.J. Institute of Health Sciences and Rotary Dist Governor Rtn. Dr. B. Devdas Rai speaking as a chief guest urged the engineers to adopt innovative measures in their profession and concentrate on quality. Later, he awarded prizes to the traditional dress competition winners.
Proprietor of Globe International Travels William D'souza and General Secretary of Islamic Cultural Centre Mr. Mumtaz Ali were the guests of honour and conveyed the Deepavali good wishes. Vice President of the Association, Er. Vimal Keerti Jain and National Vice President Er. Ashok Kumar were present. Earlier, President of the Consulting Civil Engineers Association Er. Vijay Vishnu Mayya welcomed the gathering. Secretary Er. Vinayak Pai proposed a vote of thanks.
