Mangalore, November 19: The Karnataka high court on has stayed an FIR filed against Mangalore based television journalist Naveen Soorinje in connection with Morning Mist Home-stay attack.
The development comes two days after the bail application filed by Mr Soorinje was rejected by the III JMF Court on Saturday.
Mr Soorinje, the prime witness to the attack carried out by the members of Hindu Jagaran Vedike on July 28, was arrested by the city police on November 7 as the 44th accused in the case.He is currently under judicial custody.
The judge, who stayed the FIR on Monday, also sought explanation from the police for booking the perpetrators of the attack and a journalist under the same sections, source said.
Following the stay order from high court, Mr Soorinje is expected to walk free within two days.
