Mangalorean Prashant Pinto killed in Abu Dhabi road mishap

pinto1Abu Dhabi, November 21: In a gut-wrenching tragedy, a Mangalore based expatriate worker lost his life after he met with a road mishap in Abu Dhabi.

A resident of Derebail, on the outskirts of Mangalore 38-year-old Prashant Pinto had died on spot in the ghastly road mishap occurred last Saturday, November 17.

However, the victim's body was identified only on Wednesday following post mortem at mortuary.

It is learnt that Pinto had run over by a speeding car driven by one UAE national when near his flat in the Mussafah area of Abu Dhabi.

Though local police arrested the driver and shifted the body of the deceased to a nearby mortuary within few minutes, they had failed to identify the victim.

Pinto's friends, who had no idea about the incident, were searching for him since Saturday. They realized about the tragedy only after witnessing the unclaimed body lying in the mortuary.

He is survived by his wife Tina Pinto, parents Henry and Cynthia Pinto and a son.

Bengaluru, Mar 13: Karnataka Health Department is planning to set up a separate hospital for COVID-19 so that the affected can be kept in quarantine at one place.

Presently, it is in the process of setting up separate isolation wards for COVID-19 cases at eight Bengaluru hospitals.

Minister for Medical Education K Sudhakar said on Friday that he has already discussed the idea of a separate facility for COVID-19 cases, so that those isolated, can be kept at a single location to contain the spread of the virus.

Bengaluru, Feb 23: Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers DV Sadananda Gowda on Sunday said that several "anti-national organisations" were misusing the platform of anti-CAA protests.

"We have taken serious note of it and have started an investigation. Several anti-national organisations are misusing the platform of anti-CAA protests and many people are trying to take political advantage of this situation," he told the media on Sunday.

Gowda said that the government is "very serious" about the issue. "We are already working towards this. Both the state and Centre are together investigating into this," he said and added, "We will ensure that we cut this and will not allow this to grow. We will investigate the organisers of the event as well."

"If you are inviting such people (alleged anti-national elements), it means that you either know about it or that you are indirectly encouraging such things. In such situations, the organisers too will be acted upon," he stressed.

Mangaluru, Mar 29: Mosques across Karnataka are now turning into centers to create awareness against deadly coronavirus that cause Covid-19. 

The state government's board of auqaf has issued a notification to the administrations of all mosques to use their loud speakers to create awareness against the virus. 

All the mosques in the state have already suspended congregational prayers to prevent the spread of the virus.

As per the decision of the state board of auqaf, now all mosques have to play the audio clips that creates awareness against the virus in three languages. 

The clips will be played at 10 a.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. everyday.

Also need to make call on all prayer places temples and churches to live with humanity without violence.
