Mangalore, November 24: The historic Kadri Kambala will be held in Mangalore on December 2, B Nagaraj Shetty, President, Kadri Kambala Committee, said.

Addressing media persons at Press Club in Mangalore on Saturday, Mr. Shetty said that the event will feature several rural games and competitions such as the 'Kesaru gadde ota' (slush race), tug of war, and other such sports besides the hallmark buffalo race.

Harikrishna Punaroor, Former President, Kannada Sahitya Parishad, will inaugurate the buffalo race. Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP, will inaugurate the 'Tappangaai' sport. Krishna Palemar, MLA, will inaugurate the tug of war event while A Sadananda Shetty, President, Shree Devi Education Trust, will inaugurate the slush race.

N Yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Dr. KN Vijayaprakash, CEO, DK Zilla Panchayat, Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President, Kalkura Pratishthana and many other dignitaries will participate in the event.

Bengaluru, May 5: Migrant workers blocked national highway near Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bengaluru on Monday, demanding to be sent back to their home states.

Revenue Minister R Ashok and CM's Political Secretary Vishwanath visited the spot and sent all migrant workers to BIEC center.

The protest caused more traffic and Peenya Police Inspector also suffered minor injuries while sending the migrants. Most of the migrants hail from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

As per the information from, some migrant workers tried to throw stones at the police while they tried to evacuate them from the road to the BIEC center.

Bengaluru, Aug 4: Deputy Chief Minister Dr.CN Ashwathnarayan instructed the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Commissioner Manjunatha Prasad to set up a separate high-level committee to ascertain the exact cause of coronavirus-related deaths in the state.

He spoke to reporters after a meeting with Prasad on Tuesday.

"The committee, headed by senior officials will audit the reason for the increase in death cases. Has there been a death due to treatment delay? Or are there any shortcomings in the treatment process?" the deputy chief minister said.

He pointed out that based on the report, the committee should try to correct the deficiency and reduce the death rate.

"How many beds are in which hospital? How many patients are on a ventilator? How many have gone home from the hospital? Etc. All information needs to be updated online at the moment. He suggested that this information should be made available to the public online," Ashwaththanarayana said.

Stating that some hospitals are not giving details about the number of beds correctly, he instructed the commissioners to take legal action if differences in their data are found.

He said that there is a shortage of ASHA workers in the city and it needs to be hired immediately.

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, there are 74,477 active COVID-19 cases in Karnataka and the death toll in the state is at 2,594.

Gokak, Jul 25: A JMFC magistrate here issued summons to the Chief minister B S Yediyurappa in relation to a complaint for the alleged violation of election code of conduct, during by-elections to the Gokak Assembly seat held last year.

According to official sources, a complaint had been registered against Chief minister B S Yediyurappa during the election campaign, under the People Representative Act, for allegedly wooing voters during electioneering.

The Gokak Police, who had investigated the case, however had submitted a 'B' report to the court letting off the Chief minister from the charges.

However the Magistrate, rejecting the Police report, had maintained that there exists prima facie case against the accused and issued summons to appear before the court on September one, the sources added.
