MR Vasudeva, Sadananda Shetty felicitated at 'Bajpe Souharda Ceremony'

Mangalore, November 25: On the occasion of third anniversary of Mashara Friends, a programme 'Bajpe Souhardha Ceremony' was held at Bajpe on Saturday.

Ravikumar S, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Panambur inaugurated the programme while Gulam Ahmed, Executive President, JDS Udupi district, presided over the programme.

As part of the programme, financial aid was given to four people by the Mashara Friends for kidney operation.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Mr. Ravikumar appreciated the club members for helping kidney patients. He also lauded them for organizing a programme uniting all sections of people.

On the occasion, the dignitaries on the dais honored MR Vasudev, ex director of Mangalore Airport, A Sadananda Shetty, chairman of Shri Devi Educational institution, Rithesh Shetty, Vice President of DK Zilla Panchayat, Sahul Hameed, President of Bajpe Gram Panchayat and Abdul Azeez Baikampady, President of Akhila Bharatha Beary Parishath for their contribution to the society.

Speaking after receiving the honour, Mr. Vasudeva asked people to extend their support to the present Airport Director JT Radhakrishna.

As part of the third anniversary celebration, an entertainment programme was also held on the occasion .

MLA K Abayachandra Jain, Dinakar Shetty, Inspector of Bajpe Mohammed Ashraf, President of Mashara Friends were present among others.

Bengaluru, Aug 4: Janata Dal (Secular) leader and MLA Satyanarayana passed away today due to multiple organ failure. He was 67.

Satyanarayana was representing Tumakuru’s Sira constituency in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. He is survived by five daughters and one son.

It is learnt that he was suffering from multiple organ ailments from the past few days and was recently admitted to Manipal Hospital in the city. He breathed his last at 12:20 p.m.

He contested from JDS and worked three times as MLA and 2 times as MP. He was the chairman of KSRTC during the coalition government led by HD Kumaraswamy.

Former Prime Minister HD Devegowda mourned his death and said, “It is a shock to hear the demise of former minister and my close friend. We are friends from the past 3 decades and I cannot recall the days without him.”

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee President DK Shivakumar said, “Satyanarayana was concerned for the farmers and he was a gentleman. Hearing the news hurts me and this is an irreparable loss to the political field.”

Bengaluru, Jul 7: Vasudeva Maiya, former CEO of Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank, was found dead in his car in Bengaluru on July 6.

The Subramanyapura police have begun an investigation into Vasudeva Maiya's death.  Source said that he committed suicide. He was a native of Kota in Udupi district.

The car was found parked a little away from Maiya's house at around 6.30 pm on July 6.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had in January imposed restrictions on Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank and limited withdrawals to Rs 35,000 by customers.

On June 18, Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided five offices of Sri Guru Raghavendra Co-operative Bank, in relation to alleged misappropriation of Rs 1,400 crore.

The RBI, Enforcement Directorate, Criminal Investigation Department, and Registrar of Cooperative Societies are looking into the financial irregularities at the lender.

The police also conducted searches at residences of Maiya and the bank's chairman K Ramakrishna in relation to the above mentioned case, sources said.

In the wake of Saudi Arabia's assurance that Masjid al-Haram of Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi of Madinah will be opened for believers after some days, a message has gone viral on social media claiming that both the holy mosques will open on Ramadan 8 (May 1).

The message which was widely circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp, also contained certain condition such as people should fetch their own prayer mats and that they should not use the washrooms in the mosques. 

Clarification

Meanwhile, the authorities of the two holy mosques, issued a clarification that the claims made in the viral post are false and baseless.

"The message being circulated about the opening date for Haramiain (two holy mosques) for public is completely baseless and false. The suspension of prayers for general public is still in effect," they said in a social media post.
