Mangalore, November 26: 'Kudla Kudru', an island attraction for tourists, was inaugurated near Sulthan Battery area in Mangalore on Sunday.

Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Krishna J Palemar, MLA, said that there are many islands in and around Mangalore which are isolated and being wasted. “People are scared to go to these islands fearing drowning. Developing such islands into places of tourist interest is a good development”, he opined.

Mr. Palemar also apprecieated that the word 'Kudru' meaning island, had been retained, which will create curiosity among people outside Tulunadu and popularize Tulu culture.

N yogish Bhat, Deputy Speaker, Karnataka Legislative Assembly, Gulzar Banu, Mayor, were present besides others.

People are carried to the Kudru via boat services. Food stalls have been set up in the island for people as well where besides fish cuisines, fast food and ice creams are also served.
