Man escapes after murdering brother-in-law

bloodMulky, November 26: An incident of a man murdering his own brother-in-law has been reported from Haleyangadi Light House area under Mulky police station limits late night on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Nagesh (46), a resident of the Light House area and a mason by profession.

Nagesh had developed hatred for his wife Uttam from the past few years, it is said. They would reside in the local Omkareshwari Bhajana Mandir at night. Uttam's younger brother Ajith (25) did not like Nagesh coming to his house and would fight with him on a regular basis.

On Sunday night too, Nagesh went to his wife's house and got into a brawl with Ajith. When things got really heated up, Ajith attacked Nagesh with a cricket bat and other sharp weapons killing him on the spot. Ajith is now absconding.

Mulky police are investigating the case. Cases of smaller magnitude had been booked against Ajith in the past as well, it is learnt. Nagesh's body has been kept at Mulky Government Hospital mortuary.

Uppinangady, Feb 9: Two members of a family were killed after the car collided with a tanker on the NH 75 at Bedrody near Uppinangady last night.

Police said on Sunday that the deceased have been identified as Jainy Saji (30) and her elder brother Jeeson (40).

Jainy and Jeeson were going to Uppinangady when a tanker, coming from the opposite direction, rammed into their car.

Bengaluru, Feb 9: A man in Karnataka fled just before his wedding after his parents cancelled the ceremony over a disagreement about the saree that the bride wore duiring a ritual.

BN Raghukumar, who belonged to a village near Karnataka's Hassan town, did not to show up at his wedding, acting on the directions of his parents. The incident took place on Wednesday.

"We have registered a cheating case against Raghukumar. He is absconding," Hassan Superintendent of Police Srinivas Gowda told news agency. The police have also registered a case against the groom's parents.

Raghukumar and BR Sangeetha fell in love a year ago and decided to get married with the consent of their respective families.

However, Raghukumar's parents asked Sangeetha to change her saree during some rituals as they were not happy with its quality.

Following this dispute, the groom's parents cancelled the wedding scheduled on Thursday and directed their son to run away.

Udupi, Jun 28: The Padubidri police have booked cases against two patients of Novel Coronavirus for not revealing their primary contacts and hiding their travel history.

According to DHO Sudhirchandra Sooda, two siblings from Hejamadi in Padubidri had tested positive for COVID-19 recently. After shifting to the hospital, when the officials asked them about their primary contacts and travel history, the patients furnished false information.

When the officials collected information from various sources, they realised that the duo had travelled to Bantwal, Kasargod, Ullal and other places in Dakshina Kannada, said Dr Sooda. Hence, the district administration decided to file cases against them, he added.
