Mangalore, December 4: The entire administrative machinery of the state has slumped after the split in the ruling party, which may collapse at any given moment, said Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee president B Ramanath Rai.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday, he said that the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) were not worthy of contesting for the next Assembly elections in the state. State BJP is broken house. The government is unstable and is not in a condition to function further, he said.
“Karnataka BJP is in a 'critical' state and is in the 'Intensive Care Unit' (ICU),” he said.
Speaking about his party' achievements at the Centre, Mr Rai said that the Congress-led central government had introduced bank subsidy schemes to benefit the people, and had ensured that its schemes reached the deprived in all regions without the intervention of middle men. The cash payment schemes have provided benefits to the poor and unprivileged, he said.
He said that the district congress committee had decided to organize a block-level party workers' convention in the coming days.
“Congress is an aspiring party. We are working unitedly, without any internal rifts or conflicts within the party members. The party has been actively involved in various developmental programmes in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts ensuring its win in all eight Legislative Assembly constituencies. The split in BJP and JD(S) being non-dominant in the district has created a favourable environment for Congress to emerge victorious in the next Assembly elections. Campaigning activities will begin shortly,” he added.
Local leaders of the Congress Ivan D'Souza, Moiuddin Bava, Mamatha Gatty, Mithun Rai and several others were present at the press conference.
