Mangalore, December 11: Another case of an agent deceiving vulnerable section of people by luring them of easy access to visas and lucrative jobs abroad has come to light in Mangalore.

Informing about the same, CPI (M) leader Sunil kumar Bajal, in a press conference on Tuesday said that a person named Ronald Melvin Furtado, hailing from Bajpe has been cheating people, assuring them of visas and jobs.

Mr. Bajal claimed that despite Furtado himself possessing multiple passports and the same being brought to the notice of the police, no action has been taken against him so far.

“He has passports in the name of Alwin Fernandes and Dinesh. Though a complaint was lodged with the Bajpe police and the Commissioner of Police, no action has been taken against him,” he said and added that the accused has trapped many people even from Kerala.

Neville Wilfy Mascarenhas of Naguri, who claimed to be a victim of Furtado's deceit, said that he had come in contact with Furtado during his stay in Israel where he was working as an actor holding cultural programmes.

“Furtado made friends with me and told that he would help me with regard to visa in future. Following this, I approached him to get a visa to Israel for my friend. Furtado charged Rs four lakh for the visa and a job. I then introduced another friend of mine named Raju. This time he took Rs three lakh and did nothing. On being questioned, Furtado kept saying that issuance of visa will take time,” Mascarenhas narrated.

Sensing problem, Mascarenhas dug out more details about Furtado and found that he possessed multiple passports and that he is a professional cheat. After returning to India from Israel, Mascarenhas approached the Bajpe police to file a complaint against Furtado but although the complaint has been registered no action has followed from police. Mascarenhas also said that Furtado has supplied fake passports to more than 300 Nepali citizens from India to facilitate their entry into Israel.
