Mangalore, December 13: A conspiracy to murder a prominent personality in the city was foiled with the District Crime and Intelligence Bureau and City Crime Branch arresting six members of fugitive don Chota Shakeel's gang on Wednesday.
The arrested were identified as Ravi alias Bombay Ravi (25), Rama alias Barma (33), Purushottama (21), Vinod alias Gas Vinod (23), Devaraj (25) from Bangalore and Sohail Ismail Sheik alias Bata (23) from Thane in Maharashtra.
They were arrested when they were hatching a conspiracy at an apartment in Moodbidri.
The Bangalore based accused were working for history-sheeter Parandhama.
During interrogation they confessed that they had come to meet Rasheed Malbari at the jail.
The accused, at the behest of Malbari, were attempting to murder a prominent person.
Police seized a Maruti Zen, five weapons, eight SIM cards, nine cell phones, three ATM cards and an Adhar card.
