Mangalore, May 3: In a fresh allegation, Mangalore North BJP candidate and incumbent MLA Krishna J Palemar has said to have covered up a criminal case against him before the Election Commissioner.

Leveling allegations, Srinivas Salian, Managing Trustee, Vidya Education Trust, has said in a news conference that pretending to show interest in Konchadi's Vidya Education Trust at the time of starting his real estate venture, 'Land Links' Mr Palemar had taken the trust members into confidence and joined the trust as a trustee in April 2000. Soon, he manipulated the Trust Deed and declared himself the President of the Trust besides naming his family members as trustees, thereby claiming it to be a family Trust and swallowed properties of the Trust worth crores of rupees”, Mr. Salian said.

A case was registered against Mr. Palemar in this regard and the matter is sub judice before Karnataka High Court. But Mr. Palemar has not made a mention of this in the affidavit filed with the Election Commission, Mr. Salian said.

Mr. Palemar created false documents to prove that he is the President of the Trust by getting auditors to certify that he had provided a loan of Rs 22 lakhs to the Trust besides a loan of about Rs. 40,000 given to the Trust by his son Pradeep Kumar. Mr. Palemar got the Trust documents forged bringing his goons into play and a complaint was filed with the Additional JMFC court. The court directed Pandeshwar police to investigate the matter and submit a report. The case will come up for hearing on May 4 and the court may order registering of a criminal case against Mr. Palemar following perusal of the police report. But all these details have been left out by Mr. Palemar in the affidavit, Mr. Salian said.

Although a complaint was filed with the Election Commission about Mr. Palemar's false affidavit, no action has been taken by the Commission so far, Mr. Salian alleged.
