ACP Y H Khan's wife killed in road accident in Bangalore

Bangalore, Oct 27: The wife of Y H Khan, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) attached to the City Armed Reserve (CAR) was killed in a road accident in Penukonda in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh early Saturday morning.qualis

57-year-old and his wife Najeebunnisa alias Shabana (51) were travelling in a car from Raichur to Bangalore on NH 44.

Around 12.30 p.m. in the limits of the Chennekotta Palli police station, the car crashed into a truck. The CK Palli police said that Shabana was killed on the spot while Mr Khan was rushed for treatment to Bangalore by ambulance.

Mr Khan was admitted to the Columbia Asia Hospital, and then shifted to Hosmat hospital around 9.30 a.m. on Saturday.

Doctors at the hospital said Mr Khan had sustained fractures on the left side of his body, mainly on his arm and hip. He underwent surgery in the afternoon and is now under observation.

The doctors said that he is out of danger.

CAR officials said Mr. Khan had taken leave for three days and was to return to duty on Saturday. The police suspect that it could be a hit-and-run case and are investigating.

Shabana's body was shifted to Dharmavaram Government hospital for post-mortem.

A case has been registered at the CK Palli police station.

Mandya, Aug 1: In a terrific incident, a college student has stabbed his own mother to death in Karnataka’s Mandya town over a trivial issue. The police have managed to nab the accused. 

According to police, the boy was irked by his mother rebuking him for staying out with his friends late in the night.

On Wednesday (July 29), she scolded him for not listening to her advice, following which he stabbed her to death, the official said. 

The student was arrested on July 30. He reportedly confessed to the crime. 

A police officer said that the woman was upset over her son frequently spending time with his friends till late in the night.

Udupi, Apr 29: Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kit used by the doctors to treat COVID-19 patients was found in the river at Kodangala, Alevoor Gram Panchayat limits, sources said on Wednesday.

According to them, a Panchayat office staff who noticed the PPE thrown in the river informed the Health Department about it on Tuesday and following which a police complaint was filed.

As the PPE is used only for medical treatment, police officials need to investigate who used the kit and in which hospital, who threw it in the river and the purpose of throwing it.

Mangaluru, Apr 21: An elderly woman from Bantwal taluk in Dakshina Kannada district has been diagnosed with covid-19, a deadly disease caused by coronavirus.

The state health and family welfare department, in its bulletin released on Tuesday morning, confirmed  that 67-year old woman suffering from covid-19.

The woman is said to be a neighbour of the woman from who died last Friday after being infected with coronavirus.

It is suspected that the virus reached elderly woman's body as she was in touch with the deceased.

The woman was admitted to Covid - 19 Hospital, Mangaluru, on the April 18 after she developed breathing problem. It is learnt that she is responding to the treatment
