Mangalore, May 23: Bhopal based Muhammad Ali, one of the crew members who died in the tragic Mangalore Air Crash, had already resigned from the post of Flight Steward from Air India, seeking a U turn in his career. But, all his dreams and wishes remained unfulfilled when the Boeing 737-800 aircraft turned into a death craft in a tragic accident.

Ali (24), served the Air India as Flight Steward for two years and resigned last week intending to enter hotel industry. But, he could not leave the job as the notice period was on, prior to the appointment of a new flight Stewart.

The family of Ali lives in the Shajanabad Hospital city complex in Bhopal. His father Sayeed Iftiqar Ali is a retired bank executive.

Ali's family comprised of his parents and his three sisters. He had visited Bhopal just a week ago and had taken his family to Delhi three days ago. On Saturday, his father and other family members were in Delhi when the news of air disaster came in. Immediately on receipt of this sad news they all left for Mangalore.

10 students injured as school bus on educational tour rams into tree

Kalaburgi, Jan 2: At least 10 students sustained injuries when a private bus carrying students of a school on an educational tour rammed into a tree today morning.

The mishap occurred when the students of Ayyappa School located in Chennaveera Nagar were going around the city in a bus during their tour.

The bus crashed into a tree near Venkatagiri Hotel on New Jewargi Road in the city.

A case has been registered at a traffic police station.

Security beefed up at airports across country after suspicious bag found at Mangaluru airport

New Delhi, Jan 20: Security has been beefed up at airports across the country after a suspicious bag was found at the Mangaluru airport on Monday.

According to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which guards the airports in the country, a man was captured in the CCTV dropping the bag inside Mangaluru airport.

According to the CISF DIG Anil Pandey, traces of improvised explosive device (IED) have been found from the bag.

"According to CCTV footage, a suspect kept the bag at Mangaluru airport and was then seen leaving in auto while concealing his face. The suspected object was detected timely and local bomb disposal team is working on its disposal," DIG Pandey told media.

"We have found traces of IED from a bag lying at a ticket counter in Mangaluru airport, we have safely evacuated it," DIG Pandey told media.

According to sources, initial investigations have revealed that the bag contained some type of black powder.

"Initial investigation has revealed that the bag contained a black powder which seems to be explosive, though it is yet to be cleared what kind of explosive it is," sources claimed.

"After we found the suspicious bag at Mangaluru airport, a security drill has been initiated at all the airports and CISF staff have been asked to beef up security," DIG Pandey said.

'Madhugiri Modi' arrested for derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad

Tumkuru, Feb 26: A man was arrested from Azad Nagar area of Anantpur on Wednesday for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Mohammed and posting it on social media earlier this month, police said.

He was identified as Atul Kumar alias Madhugiri Modi, a resident of Madhugiri’s Hobali Honnapur village.

According to Superintendent of Police Vamshikrishna teams had been formed to arrest the accused following protests against his video and remarks against Prophet Mohammed in Tumkuru and Madhugiri,
