New Delhi, September 22: Setting a car afire or attacking a building with firearms cannot be justifiable way of protest against insult to Islam or Prophet Muhammad. Youths under the banner of Khudai Khidmatgar here on Friday came up with a noble idea of protest against the infamous blasphemous movie on Prophet Muhammad. Less than a dozen youths this evening gathered outside the American Center in the heart of Delhi and distributed a book on the life of the Prophet among the passers-by and employees of the center outside.

“Within half an hour, we distributed 125 copies of the book Islam ke Paighambar Hazrat Muhammad (a book in Hindi written by Prof. KS Rao). As it was office closure time, so educated people, men and women coming out of offices in the neighborhood happily accepted the book,” Faisal Khan of Khudai Khidmatgar told TCN.

He informed that police tried to prevent them from distributing the book, they even snatched their camera and deleted all photos.

“We knew they would not allow us to gather outside the American Center. So we all eight were individually on either side of the road and exactly at 6 pm we gathered in front of the main gate. The policemen stopped us. We argued we are distributing books, we are not breaking any law. We told them that people from Hare Rama Hare Krishna mission park their van at Palika Bazar and whole day they distribute literature on Hindu religion, why don’t you stop them. As one member of our team was clicking photos of us distributing the book, the police snatched the camera and deleted photos. Anyhow, some other member managed to click some photos,” said Khan, a noted civil and human rights activist.

Amaravati, Mar 16: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy said that paracetamol is the only medication for coronavirus.

He said that COVID-19 is lethal for those have comorbid conditions including blood pressure, asthma and kidney diseases.

"There is no need to get panic about Coronavirus. Its impact is majorly on senior citizens aged above 60 years. It is dangerous to those suffering from diabetes, blood pressure, asthma and kidney diseases. For others, it is not so much dangerous. And paracetamol is the only medication for coronavirus," Reddy said on Sunday while addressing a press conference on the postponing of the local body elections as coronavirus cases continue to rise.

"In case anybody coming from foreign countries is found suffering from cough, cold and fever, bleaching powder should be sprayed on their belongings and things they use. The government is creating awareness on such precautions," he added.

Reddy slammed the State Election Commissioner's decision of postponing the local body elections for six weeks and alleged that the SEC was acting at the behest of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu.

The opposition has targeted Reddy on his statement, saying the chief minister is behaving "ignorantly" and "irresponsibly" on the issue of coronavirus.

"While Telangana CM had changed his stand and closed shops and theatres in his state, Jagan Reddy is speaking as if there is no need for any panic. This CM is behaving ignorantly and irresponsibly," said Naidu.

Andhra Pradesh has reported one case of coronavirus. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases across India has risen to 110.

Motera, Feb 23: A day before US President Donald Trump's visit to Ahmedabad, a makeshift VVIP entry gate erected outside the newly-built cricket stadium in Motera area here collapsed due to gusty winds on Sunday morning, an official said.

The entire incident was recorded by a bystander and aired on local television channels.

The makeshift entry gate was made of welded steel rods and covered in flex banners.

After some time, a portion of another makeshift gate structure at the stadium's main entrance also collapsed due to the windy weather, another official said.

No one was injured in both the incidents and work was underway to put the structures back in place, he said.

"The (VVIP) entry gate collapsed when fabrication work was going on. It was not a major incident. No one was injured in the incident," said Special Commissioner of Police, Crime Branch, Ajay Tomar said.

President Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a roadshow here on Monday and later address the 'Namaste Trump' event at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera area where over one lakh people are expected to be present.

The stadium has already received 'Building Use' permission from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation, an official earlier said.

It is the world's largest stadium with a capacity to accommodate 1.10 lakh spectators.

The stadium has been rebuilt after demolishing the old one which had a seating capacity of 49,000 spectators.
