Mallya to infuse Rs 425 cr into Kingfisher: SBI

Mumbai, December 18: Kingfisher promoter Vijay Mallya is ready to infuse Rs 425 crore into the airline and restart its limited operations as soon as DGCA gives a go-ahead, the lead lender to the grounded carrier SBI said.

SBI Deputy Managing Director for mid-corporates Shyamal Acharya, after a meeting with the top management of the airline here this evening, said Mallya, however, did not give any timeline for fund infusion or restart of the operations.

Apart from Mallya, from the airline's side the meeting was attended by group CFO Ravi Nedungadi and airline CEO Sanjay Agarwal, while the 17-member lenders were represented by mid-level managers.

Acharya also said Mallya did not ask for any fresh lending, saying the promised Rs 425 crore will come from his own resources. He also said that Mallya did not reveal the name of investors/airlines that he is in discussion with.

SBI has a non-standard exposure of Rs 1,500 crore to the carrier.

Acharya further said that lenders have constituted a group of representatives from SBI, PNB, BoB, Bank of India and IDBI Bank to discuss the limited operations, and the first meeting of the group may take place within a few days.

New Delhi, Feb 13: The BJP's Amit Shah today said statements like "goli maaro" and "Indo-Pak match" should not have been made by BJP leaders ahead of the Delhi elections.

The BJP may have suffered in the elections because of hate statements made by party leaders, he said, reported news agency Press Trust of India.

The party, he said, had distanced itself from such remarks.

New Delhi, Jun 26: The Road Transport and Highways Ministry has issued a notification to enable citizens with mild to medium colour blindness to obtain a driving licence.

An official release said that the Ministry has been taking measures to enable divyangjan citizens to avail transport-related services, especially driving licence.

It said the ministry received representations that the colour blind citizens are not able to get a driving licence due to requirements in the declaration about physical fitness (Form I) or the medical certificate (Form IA).

The release said that the issue was taken up with expert medical institution and advice sought.

The recommendations received were that mild to medium colour blind citizens be allowed to drive and restrictions should only be on the severe colour blind citizens.

"This is also allowed in other parts of the world," the release said.

The notification seeks to amend Form 1 and Form 1A pertaining to Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989.

New Delhi, Mar 29: The total confirmed coronavirus cases in India rose to 979, including 48 foreigners, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.
There are 867 active cases of the disease as of Sunday, out of the total confirmed cases, while 87 persons have also been cured and discharged or migrated.
The number of deaths due to the infection rose to 25.
Maharashtra and Kerala, with 186 and 182 cases, have two of the highest number of positive cases in the country, with Maharashtra also recording six deaths due to the disease.
The Central government has taken many stringent measures to prevent the further spread of the disease with a 21-day nationwide lockdown being imposed.
The disease which originated from Wuhan, China has so far close to 6 lakh reported cases from around the world with more than 25 thousand deaths being reported due to it, as per World Health Organisation on March 28.
