Digvijay says has terror proof against RSS; links Advani, Sushma to saffron terrorists

January 22, 2013
New Delhi, Jan 22: Taking potshots at the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the ongoing war of words over Sushil Kumar Shinde's 'saffron terror' remark, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said there is foolproof evidence in support of the allegation levelled by the Union Home Minister.singh

A gloating Digvijay said, "For years the media and political parties called me mad when I said RSS linked to terror, today I am very happy that this has been officially stated by the Home Minister himself".

“Home Minister has said the same things, whatever I was saying for the past eleven years. There are some people in the RSS who are providing training for terrorist activities, and are themselves involved in such activities. He said this because he has evidence. The fact has been proved, investigation is going on, and some people have been arrested in the matter,” said Singh.

Reacting to RSS spokesperson Ram Madhav latest remark in response to Shinde’s comments that terrorist groups like the ‘Lashkar-e-Taiba and the Jamaat-ud-Dawa should have congratulated Shinde for his comments’, Singh said that RSS must clarify whether people, including slain Sunil Joshi, Ramjee Kalangsara, Sandeep Dange, Lokesh Sharma are associated with them or not.

Citing that the RSS and BJP have an inseparable association in this regard, Singh also sought clarification as to why senior BJP leader L K Advani and Sushma Swaraj have met the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, and requested that he favour terrorists Sadhvi Pragya Thakur and Colonel Purohit, when they were arrested?

“There is substantial proof that the Sangh (RSS) has organised the training camps for providing training to plant bombs,” he added.

Singh, even on earlier occasions, has raised his voice against the RSS, the ideological patron of the BJP, for their alleged involvement in the Makkah Masjid and Samjhauta Express blasts.

On Sunday, Shinde alleged that the training camps run by the RSS and BJP were promoting ‘Hindu terror’. He also alleged that the RSS and the BJP were behind the Samjhauta Express, Meccca Masjid and Malegaon blasts.

Later, defending himself, Shinde said that he didn't say anything new and only spoke about saffron terrorism, which has already been talked about many a times in newspapers.

New Delhi, Jun 12: The Supreme Court on Friday slammed the Delhi government on news reports showing deplorable condition of medical wards in Delhi, where dead bodies were not only in wards, but were also found in lobby and waiting areas.

The apex court termed the situation in Delhi "horrendous, horrific and pathetic". It slammed the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government for its handling of dead bodies, terming it "very sorry state of affairs".

A bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan, SK Kaul and MR Shah took suo moto cognizance of the ill-treatment being meted out to Covid patients in hospitals and also the undignified way in which dead bodies of Covid patients were being handled.

Solicitor general Tushar Mehta, representing the Centre, said there was a case in Delhi where dead bodies were found alongside patients, who were undergoing treatment.

Justice Shah questioned Mehta, "So what have you done?"

The bench termed the situation in Delhi "horrendous, horrific and pathetic", and reproached the government for patients being placed alongside stacks of dead bodies in the hospitals. The bench noted that patients' families aren't even informed about deaths and in some cases, families haven't been able to attend the last rites, too.

The bench noted that there is a problem with the way the pandemic was being fought in the national capital.

"The number of tests conducted are low in Delhi compared to Chennai and Mumbaia...Why are tests so less in Delhi?" the bench said.

"Nobody should be denied testing onn technical reasons...simplify procedure so more and more can test for Covid," said the bench.

The top court pointed out that it is the duty of the state to conduct testing so that more people know about their health status.

The top court also noted that the situation is grim even in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

Mumbai, Jan 28: Flag carrier Air India has kept one of its 423-seater jumbo planes ready in Mumbai for the evacuation of Indian citizens from Wuhan in China in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak in that country, an official source said on Tuesday.

The airline is awaiting necessary approvals from the ministries of external affairs and health to operate the special flight, the source said. The health ministry's nod is required because the operating crew has to fly in a virus outbreak territory.

"We have kept a Boeing 747-400 ready in Mumbai to operate an evacuation flight to China whenever we get a go ahead from the government," the source said.

Some 250 Indians are to be evacuated.

At a meeting of top secretaries called by the cabinet secretary on Monday, the government decided to be prepared for possible evacuation of Indian nationals in Wuhan.

Accordingly, Ministry of External Affairs will make a request to the Chinese authorities for evacuation of Indian nationals, mostly students, stuck in Wuhan city. The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Ministry of Health will make arrangements for transport and quarantine facilities respectively, an official release said on Monday.

Wuhan along 12 other cities have been completely sealed by the Chinese authorities to stop the virus from spreading. The death toll climbed to 80 with 2,744 confirmed cases.

Nuapada, Jun 15: In a shocking incident, a 70-year-old elderly woman had to drag her 100-year-old bedridden mother on a cot to the nearby bank to withdraw pension money of Rs 1,500.

The incident came to light after a video of the woman dragging her bedridden mother on a cot to a bank in Odisha's Nuapada district went viral on social media.

The woman from Bargaon village dragged her mother on the cot after the bank official allegedly asked for physical verification. The incident took place on June 9.

"I went to the bank several times in last three months and requested the bank official to release the pension amount. However, the official informed that they would release the pension if I bring my mother to the branch," said Punjimati Dei.

Bank manager Ajit Pradhan allegedly asked Dei to bring her bedridden mother Labhe Baghel to the bank.

Her mother is an account holder under Jan Dhan Yojana of the Central government.

The Centre had announced Rs 500 monthly assistance for women Jan Dhan bank account holders from April to June in view of the COVID-19 situation.

A district administration official informed that the woman reached the bank with her mother before the manager could visit her home for the verification.
