Over 10,000 complaints received against Jet Airways

jetairwaysNew Delhi, Mar 13: Over 10,000 complaints have been received against Jet Airways with regard to refunds, lost baggage, misbehaviour by airline staff among others in the last three years, the Parliament was informed today.

Between March 2010 and December last year, 10,004 complaints were received against Jet Airways, followed by 6,496 against IndiGo, Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation K C Venugopal told the Lok Sabha.

As many as 5,136 complaints against SpiceJet, 3,917 against Kingfisher, 3,181 against GoAir, 3,152 against Air India, 2,445 against JetLite and 90 against now closed Paramount Airways were received during the same period, he said.

Venugopal said last year, a total of 9,950 flights, including 3,461 of the national carrier Air India, were cancelled due to technical, operational, weather, air traffic control and other commercial reasons.

In reply to another question, the minister said 13 aircraft of erstwhile Indian Airlines and Air India's subsidiary Alliance Air were grounded for want of engines, auxiliary power units and other components.

New Delhi, Jan 17: A Delhi court Friday issued fresh death warrants for February 1, 6 am against the four convicts in the Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.

Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora was hearing a plea by one of the four death row convicts in the case, Mukesh Kumar Singh, seeking postponement of the date of his execution scheduled for January 22.

Earlier in the day, the Tihar jail authorities sought issuance of fresh death warrants against the four convicts.

Public Prosecutor Irfan Ahmed told the court that Mukesh's mercy plea was rejected by President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday.

The 23-year-old paramedic student, referred to as Nirbhaya, was gang-raped and brutally assaulted on the intervening night of December 16-17, 2012 inside a moving bus in south Delhi by six persons before being thrown out on the road.

She died on December 29, 2012, at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.

New Delhi, May 21: As many as 5,609 new COVID-19 cases were reported in India in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases in the country to 1,12,359 according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Out of the total cases, 63,624 are active cases, 45,300 patients have been cured/discharged or have migrated and 3,435 deaths have been reported.

With 39,297 cases in total, Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country, followed by Tamil Nadu (13,191 cases), Gujarat (12,537 cases), and Delhi (11,088 cases).

The nationwide lockdown imposed as a precautionary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus has been extended till May 31.

New Delhi, Feb 26: The death toll in northeast Delhi communal violence over the amended citizenship law rose to 20 on Wednesday, according to GTB Hospital authorities.

On Tuesday, the death toll was 13.

"The death toll has risen to 20 today," Medical Superintendent of GTB Hospital, Sunil Kumar, told PTI.

Earlier, at least four bodies were brought to the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital from the Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital, a senior official said.
