Working towards self-sufficiency in petroleum by 2030: Veerappa Moily

Jaipur, Mar 14: The government is working towards making the country self-sufficient for its petroleum needs by 2030, Petroleum Minister M Veerappa Moily said today.

"We are working with a programme that by 2020, 50 per cent of import of petroleum should be stopped and 75 per cent imports should be stopped by 2025. By 2030, the country must become self sufficient in petroleum," he said after signing of an MoU with Hindustan Petroleum for setting up a state-of-art refinery in Barmer district of Rajasthan.
"The country has potential inside. We have dynamic professionals and we can do it. Several lakh crores of rupees we are spending on import. How we can come out of poverty if we pay such kind of money outside the country?" he said.
"The government is working with a vision so we in the 8-9 years could achieve 8 per cent growth rate and we are hopeful that the growth rate would be 10 per cent within next 2-3 years," the Minister said.

"Everybody should work for that and most importantly not in different directions. All should put efforts for industrial development, inclusive development and economic growth irrespective of party affiliation and ideology," he said.
Speaking on the refinery, Moily said it will accelerate economic development of the state and development of the region will take place after the refinery is setup, hopefully by 2016-17.
He said that remaining formalities should be completed within next 3 months so that foundation laying ceremony by the UPA Chariperson Sonia Gandhi could take place in Barmer.
The Minister also said that the refinery project will generate direct and indirect job opportunities for locals and asked the state government of Rajasthan to depute a team to work out a plan for skill development of locals so that the locals can be provided employment in the refinery once it is set up.
The refinery having a capacity of 9 MTPA will be set up with an estimated capital investment of Rs 37,320 crore for which Secretary (Petroleum and Mines) Raj Sudhansh Pant and Director (Refineries) HPCL K Murli signed the MoU at Chief Minister's office here.
Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot, Union MoS Petroleum Laxmi Panabaka, other public representatives and senior officials from the state government and the HPCL were present on the occasion.

CM Yogi’s drive to identify CAA beneficiaries runs into problems

Lucknow, Jan 16: The drive initiated by Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Adityanath government to identify non-Muslim immigrants in the state seems to have run into rough weather.

In Pilibhit, where the maximum number of about 35,000 illegal immigrants has been identified, it has now been found that information is being sought by the state government on an unverified document. A large number of families from Bangladesh settled here several decades ago.

The survey began last month even before the bill was notified. Moreover, the feedback email on the questionnaire is a Gmail ID -- [email protected] -- which is not a government server.

It is not known how the state government is drawing up the lists without having the verification criteria.

After the report was put up by a news website, Home Department officials feigned complete ignorance about the issue.

A spokesman said: "This was an unofficial and preliminary exercise to assess the number of illegal migrants in the state. The document is meant to collect basic beneficiary information. No list of potential beneficiaries has yet been sent to Delhi."

The document has eight columns asking for name, father's name, place of stay in India, and where did they come from and when. It does not mention any requirement of proof, or documents.

It also asks for a description of the kind of atrocities they faced, presumably in their home country.

The District Magistrate of Pilibhit claimed they are checking documents of the refugees, but denied any knowledge of the unsigned document.

The CAA is meant to benefit Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014. The statement of purposes of the Act adds that it is meant to benefit those fleeing religious persecution from the above countries.

Yogi is unfit to be CM as he does not know what he speaks and does. Its unfortunate that we are such idiot as CM. Instead of CAA we need PAA (Politician amendment act). We need age limit of politicians to be fixed to 65 or maximum 70 years and any one coming in politics to be free from any bad doing. No rapists/murders/looters/decoits should be allowed to contest election. Presently 90 percent of the politicians have bad record. Few are rapists, murders, having spent jail term etc.

Women's college issues dress code, prohibits burqa

Patna, Jan 25: JD Women's College in Patna has issued a direction to the students to follow the prescribed dress code on the campus while stating that wearing a 'burqa' in college is prohibited.

"All students have to come to college in the prescribed dress code, every day except on Saturday. Students are prohibited from wearing 'burqa' in college", reads a notice signed by the Principal and Proctor of the college.

The college administration has also imposed a fine of Rs. 250 for violation of the norm.

I think this college management will allow girl students to wear tight jeans + t-shair and miniskirts but is not allowing a girl to cover her body. Are we in ancient days where humans had no dress to cover themselves or in the time of Nair kings in kerala who restricted ladies of low caste from covering their chest.

With spike of 29,429 cases, India's COVID-19 tally reaches 9,36,181

New Delhi, Jul 14: India's COVID-19 tally has reached 9,36,181 as 29,429 new coronavirus cases were reported in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.

The death toll went up to 24,309, including 582 fatalities in the last 24 hours.

Out of the total cases, 3,19,840 are currently active and 5,92,032 are cured/discharged/migrated.

As per the Ministry, Maharashtra -- the worst-affected state from the infection -- has a total of 2,67,665 COVID-19 cases and 10,695 fatalities. While Tamil Nadu has a tally of 1,47,324 cases and 2,099 deaths due to COVID-19.

Delhi has reported a total of 1,15,346 cases and 3,446 deaths due to COVID-19.

As per the information provided by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) 3,20,161 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till July 14, of these 1,24,12,664 samples were tested on Tuesday.
