RSS says it is not interfering in affairs of BJP

bhagaNew Delhi, Jun 12: A day after senior BJP leader L K Advani withdrew his resignation following the RSS chief's call to him, the Sangh founthead today said that it is not interfering or managing the affairs of the right-wing party.

"When a senior person of the stature of L K Advani needed to be given some advice, naturally some senior people in the country and society will give him advice. Not just RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat but also many others had advised him to reconsider his decision," RSS leader Ram Madhav said.

Advani, who had quit key party posts in the wake of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi's elevation as head of the BJP Election Campaign Committee, withdrew it after Bhagwat persuaded him on the phone to do so. BJP and RSS have reportedly assured Advani that he will be consulted on all big decisions of the party.

BJP President Rajnath Singh had said yesterday that Advani changed his decision after Bhagwat convinced him that the concerns raised by him in his resignation letter will be looked into.

Insisting that Bhagwat and others merely gave suggestions to Advani, Madhav said, "Do you mean to say that everybody who was giving advice to Advani was interfering in affairs of BJP? RSS does not and shall never do any micro-management of the affairs of BJP."

The crisis in BJP blew over after Advani took back his resignation.

Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 16: Seven fresh cases of COVID-19 were reported from Kerala on Thursday, taking the total number of active cases to 147 in the state,even as over 88,000 people are under observation.

On Wednesday, only one positive case had been reported, thelowest in weeks.

While Kannur reported four cases, two were from Kozhikode and one from Kasaragod, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reportershere.

Five of those affected had come from abroad, while two have got it through contact with infected people.

Samples of 27 people, including 24 from the worst affected Kasaragod, have turned negative on Thursday.

He said 394 coronavirus cases have so farbeen detected from the state.

Over 80,000 people are under observation, including 532 in various hospitals.

Vijayan said 17,400 samples have been sent for testing of which 16,459 have returned negative.

Srinagar, Jun 19: Suspended Jammu and Kashmir DSP Davinder Singh, arrested while ferrying two Hizb-ul-Mujahideen terrorists in a vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu Highway earlier this year, was granted bail by a Delhi court on Friday, his lawyer said.

Singh and another accused in the case - Irfan Shafi Mir - were granted the relief by the court in a case filed by special cell of Delhi Police, noting that the probe agency failed to file charge sheet within 90 days from his arrest, as prescribed under law, their lawyer M S Khan said.

The bail was granted on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two sureties of like amount.

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 8: Five more people from

Kerala have tested positive for coronavirus, Health minister, K K Shailaja said on Sunday.

All the five hail from Pathnamthitta district.

While three of them had returned from Italy on February 29, two others were their relatives, the minister said.

All the five have been isolated in Pathnamathitta general hospital and are under observation.

Their tests were confirmed on Saturday night.

Earlier, India's first three positive cases had been reported from the state.

All the three patients, medical students from Wuhan, have been treated and discharged from hospitals.
