BJP to discuss election strategy in national campaign committee meet

BJPNew Delhi, Aug 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party national campaign committee is meeting in New Delhi on Sunday to discuss the election strategy for states Assembly polls later in 2013 and the Lok Sabha. BJP's poll panel chief and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the first meeting which will start at 11 am.

Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, her Rajya Sabha counterpart Arun Jaitley, LK Advani and BJP President Rajnath Singh will also attend the one-day meet.

The BJP states unit presidents and office-bearers will also be present during the meeting. The party is likely to get a feedback on the progress made in formation of various teams from booth-level committees and above.

The issue of reaching out to prospective voters will also be discussed with the state unit chiefs and general secretaries.

The BJP has launched a website to invite suggestions for its "chargesheet" against the "decade of misgovernance" of the Congress- led UPA. Party workers, supporters and the masses have been asked to give a feedback. The party is also working on reaching out to voters through the conventional routes of holding public rallies and

door-to-door campaigns.

On Saturday, the party had organised a media workshop for its spokespersons and media cell and

asked them to be aggressive but maintain decorum and decency while while countering the

Opposition through television debates and press interactions.

New Delhi, Jun 24: With the highest single-day spike of 15,968 cases and 465 deaths in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 count reached 4,56,183 on Wednesday.

According to the latest update by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), 14,476 deaths have been recorded due to the infection so far in the country.

The count includes 1,83,022 active cases, and 2,58,685 cured/discharged/migrated patients.

Maharashtra with 1,39,010 confirmed cases remains the worst-affected by the infection so far in the country. The state's count includes 62,848 active, 69,631 cured, discharged patients while 6,531 deaths have been reported due to the infection so far.

Meanwhile, the national capital's confirmed coronavirus cases reached 66,602.

2,301 deaths have been reported in Delhi due to the infection so far.

Tamil Nadu has reported 64,603 cases so far with the death toll reaching 833.

New Delhi, Jun 25: Diesel price in the national capital crossed the Rs 80 per litre-mark for the first time ever on Thursday as oil companies raised prices for the 19th day, taking the cumulative rate to Rs 10.63 a litre.

Petrol price, after a day's hiatus, was hiked by 16 paise and the increase in less than three weeks now totals Rs 8.66 per litre.

Petrol price in Delhi was hiked to Rs 79.92 per litre from Rs 79.76, while diesel rates were increased to Rs 80.02 a litre from Rs 79.88, according to a price notification of state oil marketing companies.

Diesel had for the first time become costlier than petrol in Delhi on Wednesday and has now crossed the Rs 80 per litre-mark.

Rates differ from state to state depending on the incidence of value-added tax (VAT).

However, diesel is costlier than petrol only in the national capital where the state government had raised local sales tax or VAT on the fuel sharply last month. It costs less than petrol in other cities.

The 19th daily increase in rates since oil companies on June 7 restarted revising prices in line with costs after ending an 82-day hiatus in rate revision, has taken diesel prices to fresh highs.

In 19 straight days, diesel price has gone up by Rs 10.63 per litre. Petrol price has been hiked on 18 occasions since June 7 and now totals to Rs 8.66 a litre.

New Delhi, April 6: India recorded the highest number of 704 positive cases of coronavirus in the past 24 hours, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Monday.

With these new cases, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases in India have now climbed to 4,281.

Total deaths stand at 111 including 28 new deaths. So far, 318 COVID-19 patients have been cured across the country.
