Narendra Modi not propagating BJP but RSS ideology, says P Chidambaram

Narendra_Modi New Delhi, Nov 6: Finance Minister P Chidambaram has warned that Gujarat Chief Ministerial and Bharatiya Janata Party Prime Ministerial candidate Nadrendra Modi is propagating dangerous RSS ideology. In an interview with Network18, Chidambaram claimed the BJP is making the mistake of making Narendra Modi larger than the party.

"The BJP has projected a person larger than the party, they'll realise this in the near future. It's a grave mistake. You can't project a person larger than party in a Parliamentary democracy. The RSS is fully behind this projection. So what is being propagated by Mr Modi today is not BJP's ideology but it is the ideology of the RSS. He is the chosen one of the RSS," Chidambaram said.

When asked whether the Congress has lost the plot, Chidambaram said, "This party has a long history of serving the people. We may have made mistakes but who hasn't made mistakes. Over 100 years, this party has made mistakes. Even during freedom struggle mistakes were made, but they were corrected. I don't think you can wish away Congress in near future."

Earlier on Monday, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had admitted that the influence of Modi cannot be ignored. He, however, said that the term 'Modi wave' is an exaggeration. "As far as Modi wave is concerned, it is a bit of an exaggeration also. It would be wrong on our part to deny any influence of Modi in the election, but I wouldn't go as far as saying there is a wave," Omar said.

Narendra Modi is the most preferred choice for the post of Prime Minister in the four Assembly election-bound states - Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Rajasthan. A total of 35 per cent voters want him as the PM as against 17 per cent support for Congress Vive President Rahul Gandhi as the next prime minister.

When a CNN-IBN, The Week and CSDS survey in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Delhi and Rajasthan asked an open ended question without giving choices Narendra Modi came first. Rahul Gandhi came second followed by his mother and the Congress President Sonia Gandhi with 5 per cent popular support.

The incumbent Prime Minister Manmohan Singh equaled Sonia Gandhi with the same 5 per cent support. While the BSP supremo Mayawati got 2 per cent votes, the BJP patriarch LK Advani, who reluctantly forfeited his claim in favour of Modi, got just 1 per cent support.

The survey was conducted in only four Assembly elections bound states of Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The fifth poll bound state of Mizoram was not included in the survey. Modi is way ahead of Rahul Gandhi in Delhi and Rajasthan, but the gap narrows in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. In the national capital of Delhi, Modi has got 42 per cent support as against Rahul Gandhi's 15 per cent. In Rajasthan, Modi has got 40 per cent of the support as against Rahul Gandhi's 19 per cent.

When compared to CNN-IBN's July tracker, Modi's popularity has gone up in all four states. He was not named by the BJP as its PM nominee in July but he was the most preferred choice of 26 per cent in July. Rahul Gandhi's popularity has also seen a marginal increase of 2 per cent between July and October - 2013. In July, our sample size was also smaller in all four states.

Disgraced DSP Davinder Singh brought to Jammu for NIA probe

Jammu, Jan 23: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has brought the disgraced Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Davinder Singh to Jammu for investigations.

According to sources, Davinder Singh has been brought on a transit remand. A formal remand from the NIA court for interrogation will be taken on Thursday.

On Wednesday, fresh raids were carried out by the NIA at Singh's residences in Srinagar.

Singh was caught while transporting two militants, Naveed Babu and Rafi Ahmed, and a lawyer Irfan Ahmed in a vehicle to Jammu on January 11.

According to sources the two militants and the lawyer had plans to travel to Pakistan after reaching Jammu.

The case was transferred to the NIA after initial investigation by the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

Singh has been dismissed from the service and the Jammu and Kashmir administration on Monday forfeited the commendation medal and certificate awarded to him.

Indians set for smallest salary rise this year

Feb 19: Pay increases across India’s organized sector will probably grow at the slowest pace since 2009 this year, according to a survey from Aon Plc.

Companies will increase average pay by 9.1% in 2020, down from 9.3% in 2019 and 9.5% the previous year, Aon said in a report published Tuesday. The small increase reflects a deep slowdown in Asia’s third-largest economy, where growing pessimism about job prospects have led many to cut down on consumption -- the main driver to growth.

India still leads the Asia-Pacific region in pay rises, but that is mainly due to higher inflation and a “war for key talent and niche skills,” Aon said.

“There is a general air of caution about the economy as we enter into 2020,” Tzeitel Fernandes, partner for rewards solutions at Aon, told reporters in New Delhi. “Low GDP projection and weak consumer sentiment are the reasons behind our lowest ever prediction.”

E-commerce companies and start-ups will probably get the biggest salary increases, projected at an above-average 10%, while financial institutions will hand out 8.5%. Unsurprisingly, the auto sector witnessed the biggest drop in growth -- down to 8.3% from 10.1% in 2018, according to Aon. The survey covered more than 1,000 companies across over 20 industries.

CM Yogi’s drive to identify CAA beneficiaries runs into problems

Lucknow, Jan 16: The drive initiated by Uttar Pradesh's Yogi Adityanath government to identify non-Muslim immigrants in the state seems to have run into rough weather.

In Pilibhit, where the maximum number of about 35,000 illegal immigrants has been identified, it has now been found that information is being sought by the state government on an unverified document. A large number of families from Bangladesh settled here several decades ago.

The survey began last month even before the bill was notified. Moreover, the feedback email on the questionnaire is a Gmail ID -- [email protected] -- which is not a government server.

It is not known how the state government is drawing up the lists without having the verification criteria.

After the report was put up by a news website, Home Department officials feigned complete ignorance about the issue.

A spokesman said: "This was an unofficial and preliminary exercise to assess the number of illegal migrants in the state. The document is meant to collect basic beneficiary information. No list of potential beneficiaries has yet been sent to Delhi."

The document has eight columns asking for name, father's name, place of stay in India, and where did they come from and when. It does not mention any requirement of proof, or documents.

It also asks for a description of the kind of atrocities they faced, presumably in their home country.

The District Magistrate of Pilibhit claimed they are checking documents of the refugees, but denied any knowledge of the unsigned document.

The CAA is meant to benefit Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan who came to India before December 31, 2014. The statement of purposes of the Act adds that it is meant to benefit those fleeing religious persecution from the above countries.

Yogi is unfit to be CM as he does not know what he speaks and does. Its unfortunate that we are such idiot as CM. Instead of CAA we need PAA (Politician amendment act). We need age limit of politicians to be fixed to 65 or maximum 70 years and any one coming in politics to be free from any bad doing. No rapists/murders/looters/decoits should be allowed to contest election. Presently 90 percent of the politicians have bad record. Few are rapists, murders, having spent jail term etc.
