Jubail: Mangalore boy bags Toastmasters Club best performer award

Jubail, February 13: Mangalorean youngster Shiban Fayaz , an 8th standard student of International Indian School, Jubail, won the best performer award during the Jubail Global Toastmasters Club youth leadership programme conducted recently.

The two-month programme was held with a view to build the self-confidence of youngsters by providing them with communication and leadership skills.

Shiban is the son of Ahmed Fayaz who hails from Udyavar, Udupi, settled in Mangalore and working in Saudi Arabia for an Petrochemical company at Al Jubail.

Fayaz Ahmed inspired his son to join the Global toastmaster club for the youth leadership programme, and as per the guidance and support Shiban Fayaz continued his hard work to host the programme and successfully completed his project and won the best performer award.

Safare Muhammed was the programme’s chief coordinator. Taher Moinuddin, P G R Nair, Shabana Noor, P J J Antony, Samina Mazher, Jagadeesan Kumar, Rajeev Pillai, R J George, Jacob Kuriakose and Suresh Kumar conducted workshops on different aspects of public speaking and leadership skills. Huzaiffa Warorawalla handled the entire logistics.

Participants were given theoretical and practical training through workshops and project presentations. The programme commenced on Nov. 17 with 28 participants and concluded with a grand finale last week.

Nabeel Muhammed opened the valedictory function, and session president Sana Hussain welcomed the dignitaries and guests.

Global Toastmasters Club president Aziz Siddiqui and International Indian School principal Syed Hameed felicitated the organizers and the participants.

P G R Nair was the keynote speaker on Six Sigma of Life. Safare Mohammed briefed the audience about the salient features of the programme and introduced the master of ceremonies Arya Girish and Shiban Fayyaz.

Ariba Aziz and Neha Grace Cherian won the prepared speech and impromptu speech contest respectively. Award-winning teachers from Jubail school special care section Blessy Seju and Saira Oommen were felicitated during the event for their outstanding support to specially gifted children. Nihal Nooh proposed the vote of thanks.

Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee, Saudi Arabia organized Republic Day program at AlRyan Policlinic Restaurant Auditorium, Dammam on 25th January 2020.

Abdul Waris, Former Chairman of Indian International School Dammam Inaugurated the program.

Wasim Rabbani, president of Indian Social Forum, Eastern Province Central Committee Presided over the program.

Mansoor Shah KFUPM, Indian Social Forum Delhi Zone President, Dr. Fayaz Ahmed from King Fahad University Hospital, Amir Moulavi, Executive Member,  India Fraternity Forum (IFF) Dammam, Nasir Koduvalli, Indian Social Forum, Kerala State President, Dammam, Sharief, Social Forum Karnataka State President, DammamJahangir Moulavi, Tamilnadu State president delivered speech at the program. Mohammed Firoz, Indian Social Forum  President, Jubail read the preamble of constitution. 

 Nameer Kerala , Secretary, Social Forum Central Committee welcomed guests while Ashraf Karnataka, General Secretary, Central Committee delivered vote of thanks and Tahir Hyderabad, Secretary, Indian Social Forum, Central Committee coordinated the program.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
