UAE: Dr Krishna Prasad felicitated by Ramakshatriya Sangha

Sharjah, February 23: It was a warm evening at Arab Udupi Restaurant Sharjah. A good number of Ramakshatriya Sangha members gathered to felicitate Dr. Krishna Prasad K, a well-known eye surgeon and managing director of Prasad Netralaya, Udupi.

Sugandhraj Bekal welcomed and conducted the proceedings. Then President, Secretary, Guest Dr. Krishnaprasad and Rashmi Krishnaprasad, Vice president, Treasurer were invited to the podium. The guests were taken to the podium by Basant Bekal and Suvarna Basant Bekal. Sangha’s sweet angels Ankita Rajesh Bekal and Monica Ashok Hawaldar presented a Rose to Dr. Krishnaprasad couple.

Ajit Kasargod presided over the function. Sangha secretary Praveen Uppoor welcomed the guests, committee members and all the RKS members with his welcome speech. G.K.Rao went through brief details of Ramakshatriya Sangha, UAE activities held for the past 6 years and the plans of current year. Further Srinivas Krishnapur read the details of the achievements and work done by Dr. Shri Krishna prasad.

Then the felicitation ceremony commenced with Shawl wrapping around Dr. Shri Krishnaprasad presented by the President of Ramakshatriya Sangha, UAE, Sundeep Rao. Fruits were presented by G.K. Rao. Flower Bouquet was presented by Sathish Hanglur. Momento was presented by Dinesh Bekal. Rashmi Krishnaprasad was presented a Flower bouquet by Sujaya Sundeep Rao.

Chandraban sang a melodious devotional song. The president of Ramakshatriya Sangha Sundeep Rao commenced his speech and thanked the guest for sparing his valuable time and accepting the honour. He also thanked all the members who came in good number making the occasion grand.

The president thanked Srinivas Krishnapur who coordinated the event, Mr. Sugandhraj Bekal for arranging the gifts and flowers etc and hosting the event. Rajesh Bekal and Taresh Rao who helped to capture the moments of the event and all the other executive members for their kind effort and support provided for the success of this event. Finally the thanks giving speech was presented by the Vice President Manjunath Kasargod.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.

Kuwait: State of Karnataka is enriched with Daasa culture, which had contributed immensely to its literature, culture, art & philosophy. Daasa tradition in Karnataka was part of the Bhakti movement which flourished from around 15th century and it extended considerable spiritual influence over the masses. Kuwait Kannada Koota, a socio-cultural association for the people of Karnataka in Kuwait, organized its annual Daasotsava on 14th February 2020 in remembrance of these saints, thereby displaying the rich cultural heritage of the state. 

The program started with a warm welcome address by Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath, convener of cultural committee. Divine invocation prayer by Mrs. Vasantha Ashok and Mrs. Sandhya Arun set the trend for the event. This was followed by lighting of the traditional lamp by the 2020 executive committee, comprising of President Mr. Rajesh Vittal, Vice President Mr. Sandeep Chabba, General Secretary Mr. Praveen Kumar Shetty and Treasurer Mr. Pradeep Rao. President, while welcoming the gathering, spoke about the importance of Daasas in Kannada literature & history and briefed about the series of upcoming programs. Cultural programs started with fancy dress competition by Koota children comprising of all age group starting from infants to elder kids. This program stole the show as the efforts & time invested by children and their parents were clearly visible. 

2019 executive committee was felicitated by the current committee for wonderfully managing Koota affairs & programs. This was followed by the release of Koota magazine “Marala Mallige", comprising of informative articles, drawings, poems etc., entirely contributed by the association members. Event’s main attraction “Vrindavana Leelavarana", a colorful dance drama spectacularly portrayed by 54 Koota children, was very well appreciated & received by the attendees. Association children who successfully completed 10th and 12th were felicitated as a token of encouragement. Executive committee gave away prizes to Kids who excelled in the stage competitions held earlier. Audience was treated to a divine and melodious Bhajan program conducted astutely by the ladies & men. Koota women performed Bhajan Kolata, along with ladies bhajan, in a well-coordinated manner. Vote of thanks was proposed by the secretary of Koota, thanking those who contributed for the success of the event. Another attraction was a quiz competition “Rasa Prashne", conducted efficiently between the programs, by Mr. Mahesh Shiramgond. 

The whole event was planned and executed astutely by the cultural committee under the leadership of Convener, Mrs. Spoorthy Kamath. Public Relations Committee, led by Mrs. Suparna Dambal, welcomed the members in a vibrant & colorful way, showcasing a beautifully erected divine mantap. The event was sponsored by Unimoni, LIC HFL, VSPL, Geetherb, Kotak Life Insurance, Joy Alukkas, Lulu Hypermarket & Total Environment. The program ended with a sumptuous satvik lunch, sponsored by the senior Koota member, Mr. Ramachandran Seetharaman.
