Kuwait City, March 13: Indian Muslim Association (IMA) Kuwait under the patronage of Ministry of Awkaf and Islamic Affairs and Masjid Al Kabeer organized a lecture on “Role of Muslim Ummah in the Contemporary World” at Jamaitul Islah Center Auditorium.

The programme commenced with a beautiful recitation of The Nobel Quran by Brother Owez and Mohammed Aslam, President Indian Muslim Association gave welcome address with the brief introduction of IMA.

The key note speaker of the event was Mirza Yawar Baig, Founder President of Yawar Baig & Associates and Chairman of Standard Bearers Academy.

Referring to Quran, he said Allah has selected you to be beneficial to the mankind. Therefore, the Role of Muslim Ummah is indeed to be beneficial for the whole of mankind by enjoining the good and forbidding the evil. He further stressed that the role of Muslim Ummah does not change, but what does change is the way to be implemented in different times.

Giving examples of Sahabas (companions of Prophet (PBUH)), he said the way and the role which Sahabas implemented in their life is the best examples which we have to follow in principal.

In order to implement this role, he said there are four (4) things to be done to bring the positive change in this world:

1. Being Clear about our identity (who you are and Who am I): When we say we are Muslim Ummah , we should be very clear about our identity. Identity should be a factor of contribution instead of factor of possession. He said usually people think what we own or possess defines us but in reality possession add cost not value where contribution adds value.

2. Where I am going (what is the destination): He said; the biggest problem of the Muslim world today is that they do not have any clue of what is their destination is?. He said if you want to lead people to success then you should know what is the goal, where you want to take them and how attractive is that.

He also emphasized that it is very unfortunate that even though having means to do none of the Muslim countries were able to build a university equivalent to Harvard, Cambridge, Oxford or MIT. He said even if we claim we were the people who built many universities in ancient time does not make any difference now.

3. What is the strategy to reach the destination: He said strategies are the most important tool to reach the destination. Speaking on global leadership he said the people who were serious about global leadership have always invested unstintingly in developing that. Giving an example of Eton and Harrow schools built by queens and kings of Britain 600 years ago has given Britain 27 prime ministers, heads of global corporation, heads of universities, heads of armies & states, scientists, technologist, doctors, philosophers who one or other way makes the matters in the world order today. He further said; at the time of Eton and Harrow schools were built, Muslim world were busy building three iconic buildings i.e. Alhambra in Spain, Topkapi Palace in Turkey and Taj Mahal in India which shows the lack of seriousness in Muslim world’s strategies to reach the destination and that is why countries like Britain has the world and we only have the tombs.

4. What do you want to leave behind (what is the legacy). In regard to legacy he said when you and me are gone we only leave behind the deeds we did and we are remembered for the same. That’s why we should care about leaving behind great legacy.

Indian Muslim Association presented a Memento as a token of Respect to Shaikh Mirza Yawar Baig. Wajid Hashmi gave the vote of thanks and Amer Azhar was the convener of the Program. Snacks were served at the end of the Programme.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.
