Kuwait, May 8: Indian Muslim Association (IMA) in cooperation with Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs organized a public programme under the theme 'Concept of Ibadah (worship) in Islam' at Jamiatul Islah auditorium at Rawda.

Elaborating on the subject of ‘ Importance of Worship in building an Islamic Society' Sharfuddin Soofi quoted the verse from the Qur'an, which says “I have not created jinn and mankind but that they worship me”.

He discussed at length the meaning of the term 'Ibadah'. He said that Ibadah is generally defined as worship of Allah, performing prayers or observing formal obligations of Islam but in wider sense, it is interpreted as obedience of Allah or adhering to His Commands in every aspect of daily life. He added that it is a well-known fact that Islam gives a comprehensive code of life and demands from its followers to adopt this code in each and every aspect of their life and this is actually the meaning of Ibadah in its true sense and this is the very foundation and pre-condition for building an Islamic society.

Maulana Hafizur Rahman from Islamic Education Society (IES), Kuwait, delivered a lecture on, 'Salaat, a comprehensive program to reform the society'.

He said that Salaat is a key ingredient for the reformation of Muslim society. He added that the steps involved to revolutionize the society are the reformation of the individuals followed by the construction of the community and building institutions on Islamic lines.

Moulana Sifat Aalam, who is famous for his question and answer session through urdu broadcast of radio Kuwait, attended as chief guest and replied to various questions related to Islamic jurisprudence.

IMA President Mohammad Aslam welcomes all the individuals to the program. In his keynote address he expressed sincere gratitude to the people and elaborated on the activities taken up by IMA to the jam-packed hall. Shaikh Khalid Al Saba, Manager Community Section - IPC Kuwait and Mr. Isa Yusuf Al Shuaib, Incharge Community Section Masjid Al-Kabir Ministry of Awqaf were the guests of honor for the function. The program started with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Hafiz Owais and was convened by Masood Shehab. Dinner kits were distributed at the end of the programme.
