Ras Al Khaimah, June 6: Tuesday, June 5, turned out to be a real awareness day in Scholars Indian School, Ras Al Khaimah. The Environment Club, under the patronage of Social Studies Club took initiative in organizing and conducting the World Environment Day programmes. Under the Environment Minister Master Jithin of XII Science, the members actively participated in bringing up the concept of Environment Day effectively.
The students, with the help and guidance from Social Studies Club conducted many programmes in the school premises. School assembly was held in the morning which was presided over by the Principal Prof. M. Abubaker.
A pledge was taken by the students to protect the environment as well as to keep the beauty of it. KG children presented a beautiful song asking the people to protect penguins. Many were disguised as penguins.
Social Studies Club arranged a big outline map of the world on which each student of Scholars had to put their thumb impression. The programme was inaugurated by the Chairman of the school, Mr. Habib Mundol. Students were enthusiastically participating in this.
Drawings related to Green Earth and environment by the students were also exhibited on the school ground. Students made biodegradable paper bags for the occasion and was also exhibited. The great participation and enthusiasm from the students show their high awareness about the current problems related to environment and how badly it’s going to affect them. Before making the paper bags, the students were taken to a workshop where the art of paper bag making was shown.
Grade 9 girls prepared badges (green badges) for the special occasion. Ozzy Ozone’ was specially screened for the students, which they watched eagerly. A week long programmes are being organized by the Social Studies Club to make an awareness among the students.
