Dubai: Ambassador M K Lokesh, Mayor Gulzar to participate in 'Tuluvere Parba 2012'

Dubai, September 10: Indian Ambassador to UAE M.K. Lokesh will be the chief guest along with Mayor of Mangalore Gulzar Banu, noted dramatist Navaneeth Shetty and others at grand ‘Tuluvere Parba 2012’ scheduled to be held in Dubai on October 5, 2012 which is said to be an ethnic event ever conducted in United Arab Emirates.

With the preparations going on Community Leaders, presidents and office bearers including leaders and members of various communities of Tulu Nadu had once again met at Quick Bite Restaurant Hall, Muteena, Deira Dubai on September 7, at 5:00 p.m. in follow-up on the preparation of the event systematically and released this news to the media.

M.K. Lokesh - Indian Ambassador to UAE


M.K. Lokesh, has accepted the invitation to be the chief guest of 'Nama Tuluvere Parba 2012'.

Ambassador Lokesh, who hails from Mysore in Karnataka, was the deputy chief of mission at the Indian embassy in Brussels. A 1977 batch Indian Foreign Service officer, he served as India’s ambassador to Slovakia earlier. A postgraduate in botany and in military science, Lokesh is married to Radhika Lokesh, who is also a diplomat, currently posted as India’s Consul General in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Lokesh has vast experience in the diplomatic field and served in different positions representing India around the world.

He started his mission as third secretary at Kandy, Sri Lanka, in 1979-80 and later was promoted to second secretary in 1980-81, becoming assistant high commissioner to Sri Lanka from 1981 to 1983. He has rendered service in places such as Lagos, Nigeria, Washington, Durban in South Africa, Slovak Republic, and Brussels abroad and Tamil Nadu, Mumbai and New Delhi in India.

Gulzar Banu, the incumbent Mayor of the Mangalore City Corporation, India, Member of the Indian National Congress, is the first Muslim woman and the sixth woman to hold the position of MCC Mayor. Prior to becoming Mayor, Ms Banu was a Corporator from the Katipalla ward, having been elected twice into the position. Ms Banu won the 2012 mayoral election and became the only running candidate and was hence declared elected by default. She had visited Dubai least year and has whole heartedly agreed to be part of the "Tuluvere Parba 2012" as a guest.

Kadri Navaneeth Shetty a born multi talent is a dramatist, Yakshagana artiste and also a writer having written many Yakshaganas as well as dramas including "Kateeldha Appe Ullalthi' drama which is going to be presented at the "Tuluvere Parba 2012".

A member of Tulu Sahitya Academy, he has been awarded 'Ratnavarma Heggade Award 2011' for his Tulu drama 'Maimeda Siridurge' by Dharmadhikari D. Veerendra Heggade of Shri Kshetra Dharmashatala.

He was also awarded Zilla Rajyotsava Prashasthi in the field of drama. He is currently serving as a circulation manager for Times of India, President of Ganeshotsava Samithi, Bunts Hostel, Chief Convenor of Kadri Kambla and active in multi-functional roles across the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Districts.

In the latest meeting it was also said that there are many more guests arriving from India the names of whom will be released later.

The meeting started with welcome by Shodhan Prasad who carried on the proceedings of the meeting. Committee Leaders Sudhakar Alva, Purushottam Salian and Ex-President of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Ganesh Rai were present on the dais. Representatives from Mangalore Konkans, Devadigara Sangha, Satish Venkataramana, President of Ganigara Sangha, Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, Mogaveers UAE, Rajendra Pejavar President of Vishwakarma Seva Samithi, Ravi B. Shettigar, President of Padmashali UAE, Geetha Nayak and Anjana Kamath lady representatives of UAE Amchigele Samaj, Narayana Seva Samithi, Nama Tuluveru Executive Members Sudhakar Poojary, Shubakar B., Dinesh Sanil, Yogita Salian, Srilatha Hegde, Arthur Pereira, Dhananjay Shettigar, Ganesh Kotian, Prabhakar Suvarna, Sampath Shetty, Rajendra Pai, Satish, Premjith, Sandesh Angadibettu Jain, Fernandes and many others were present during the meeting.

Since there is a mobile blood donation campaign arranged, Ganesh Rai explained the importance of blood donation in human life both in life saving of others as well as what is the advantage to the donor as well. He currently is compiling a book on the blood donors of various associations of Karnataka who have contributed in this great cause from long time and which will be presented to be recognised by the authorities concerned very soon. He also gave an overview of the Tulu Parbha as how it is being thought, worked out and later will be presented as a gift to our motherland.

Preparations are also going on in full swing with the compilation of 'Tulu Dictionary' titled "Appe Lipi", by Premjith one of the Tulu activist in Dubai. Also progress was recorded on Tulu songs release of a new Tulu love story movie which will be shot entirely in Dubai with star cast who are living in U.A.E.

Another attraction is a specially written and composed theme song on "Tuluvere Parba" which is getting ready to be aired soon.

Finally the organizers assure a fun filled event with full of surprises the whole day in the lush green open ground of Indian High School Dubai with ethnic food stalls, game stalls, activity stalls, charity stalls and cultural activities on the stage being put up by various associations of Mangalore in Dubai who are all geared up for the forthcoming event.

Jeddah: Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum (IPWF) under the patronage of consulate General of India Jeddah related to welfare activities connected to Indian hajj pilgrims in particular and welfare functions of Indian community at large, organized Quran recitation competition for Indian students of age 10 to 14 residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Grand Finale was conducted Live online via Zoom virtual conference on Friday 15th May 2020 at 14:45 Hrs.

The Consul General Of India, Jeddah and Vice Patron IPWF, H.E.Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Shiekh graced the Grand Finale as honorable Chief Guest. The HOC, Consul Hajj and Director IPWF - Mr. Y Sabir attended as Guest of Honor, while the ever-exuberant President of the forum Mr. Ayyub Hakeem lead the event. A large number of Indian dignitaries and media personnel also joined this live event.

Judges panel included three experienced youths. First judge was the Prominent Hafiz and one of the best Qaris of his calibre, Hafiz Ismail Yahya Bilal, well educated in Qirat from Umm Al Qura University Makkah and currently persuing Masters. He also holds many honors and accolades from various international competitions and appreciations from Imaams of Haramain. The other judge, Hafiz Abdullah A.Mateen Usmani, first position winner, a record for being youngest Indian to win Jeddah Quran competition 2018 under patronage of Jeddah Governor.  Hafiz Farhan Abdur Rab, was the third judge, an Engineer by profession, as well as current Treasurer at IPWF.

Winners; Humeirah Masood Kazi and Furqan Mohammed Vasi Ahmed won Gold position. Maryam Jaffar and Adil Abdul Rasheed ranked Silver while Khatija Ehtesham Ali and Nadeem Noorisha ranked Bronze. Consolation prizes were given to Aamina Mustafa and Mohammed Ahsan Ali. The event was organized to encourage and boost the ambitions of young generation and inspring them to bring out their best in Quran Recitation

While speaking at the event Chief Guest H.E.Mr. Md.Noor Rahman Sheikh appreciated the social works of IPWF for Indian Community, praised the brilliant performance of students, He said it gives us great pleasure seeing that all participants, Judges and Jury members are Indians, he said the recitation of the children was fantabulous, and congratulated to the winners and participants. Chief Guest further said President Ayyub Hakeem and his IPWF Team deserves to be appreciated for their relentless efforts for this Noble cause, even in this period when the world is observing lockdown.

HOC, Consul Hajj Mr. Y Sabir appreciated IPWF team for organizing this virtual competition, he said it’s really amazing that 111 students registered to participate for the contest, he appreciated the hard work of children and efforts of parents for preparing their children.

Mr. Hakeem welcomed all and informed that this competition received overwhelming response from Indian community locally and internationally in short time since its launch was just couple of days earlier. Which compliments events Objective to encourage children “mainly Indians residing in Saudi Arabia” especially during the month of Quran “Ramadan” and lockdown period #COVID-19. 

40 contestants made it to the Semifinals, and 15 Students reached the Grand Finale, 2 young children were given consolation for their enthusiastic recitation. 

The President also appreciated his IPWF Team for unwavering support in preparation of this event.  He thanked the Chief Guest, HE Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh and Guest of Honor Mr. Y Sabir for gracing this glorious competition. He Thanked the audience and announced that all contestants will be awarded appreciation “digital certificate’

Syed Nasir Khursheed anchored the program, and entertained with beautiful Urdu couplets. Farhan Abdur Rab and Abdul Rahman Poyakkara conducted the contest flawlessly on time. Farhan, concluded the event with Vote of Thanks and soleful dua.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.
