Mangaloreans celebrated Eid in Dubai with ‘meet and greet’

Dubai, October, 27: Non Resident Indians from Mangalore and other parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts offered Eid-ul-Adha prayers at Karama Mosque, Mankool Eidgah on Friday.

 

Many of them gathered at Ice and Spice Restaurant Karama to ‘meet and greet’ fellow community members.

 

The meet and greet programme, which was introduced last Eid-ul-Fitr has become extremely successful among community members who gather at one place in large numbers to meet each other and exchange Eid greetings. Eid special kheer was enjoyed by everyone gathered.

 

Community members found this event as an opportunity to meet one another, which is otherwise a rare occasion and moreover takes a lot of time driving around in busy traffic. People visited with their families, where kids received their traditional Eidi and youngsters enjoyed moments with their friends.

Doha: Selvam aged 46 son of Subramanian hailing from Panakulam Village, Alangudi, Pudukkottai District in Tamilnadu province who worked as a technician, died in Qatar on April 24.

Due to challenging situation prevailing in both India & Qatar for body repatriation services, especially in Covid-19 atmosphere, Family is unable to progress further for past 2 months. At his stage Family of the deceased met Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), Pudukkottai office bearers and requested to intervene and help out, and also agreed to bury the body in Qatar itself.

Hence, SDPI delegates communicated with well-known Indian Expatriate welfare Organization - Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF). QISF General Secretary Basheer Ahamed, Secretary Abdullatheef Madikeri and team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation within a short period of time and arranged for a peaceful burial of Mr. Selvam in Dukhan cemetery.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.
