Harmony 2012: Goan folk and musical troupe visits Dubai

Dubai, November 27: At the special invitation from the U.A.E. Ministry of Information and Culture and the Embassy of India, Abu Dhabi, Goenchim Noketram, a Goan folk and musical troupe, is on U.A.E. visit from November 24 to December 7, 2012 for the 41st National Day celebrations of the country.

Under the auspices of the premier and very popular radio station 105.4 Radio Spice – Dubai, this internationally acclaimed troupe will showcase its talents in Dubai on November 29, 2012 at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium in Indian High School, Dubai.

Goenchim Noketram is a globally recognized Goan group, having performed and represented India in Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Paraugay, Bahrain, besides different places in India itself. The leader of the troupe – Marianela Mascarenhas Dias – is a Lecturer in Chemistry and has Grade-6 qualifications in Pianoforte and Theory of Music from the Royal School of Music, London. In addition, Marianela has passed the Solfeigio with honours.

Goenchim Noketram, under the leadership of Marianela, has given a total of 23 international shows, in addition to 14 national and a number of shows on state level, besides performing at various Mando festivals.

Radio Spice 105.4 – Dubai has taken the onus of having Goenchim Noketram present a show in Dubai under the theme “Harmony 2012 – Celebrating Friendship”. The aim of this program is to bring Mangaloreans, Goans and the various Indian communities together under one roof to celebrate the unity of the people of India.

India is a large, beautiful country, with people speaking different languages and of various religions, all coexisting as one nation. This show intends to bring out the feeling of ‘we belong together’ and that this sentiment should come from within. Otherwise, we would not be able to appreciate that we are different and that it is this difference that makes each one of us unique and special.

The chief guest at Harmony 2012 will be His Excellency Lokesh Mysore Kapanaiah, Ambassador of India to the United Arab Emirates. The event will host approximately 2000 guests, who would not only have the enthralling performances of the Goenchim Noketram troupe to enjoy, but also other exciting items such as early bird gifts, best ethnic dress prize for male and female and special novelty attractions. The organizers have meticulously planned for each moment of the program to be relished to the fullest. The function will commence at 7:30 pm (gates open 6:30 pm).

Riyadh, Feb 24: Indian Islahi Center, Riyadh (IICR) kicked off the propagation campaign of "Learn the Quran" national conference, which is slated to be held on March 27, 2020 at Nofa Istiraha, Exit 18, Riyadh, Kingdom Saudi Arabia. It's IICR's 20th successful program.

Kerala Legislative Assembly's opposition leader & Congress leader, Ramesh Chennitthala inaugurated the campaign that was held at Voco Hotel in Riyadh, capital city of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ramesh was on two days visit in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the campaign is to instil the keenness & to keep creating the continuous awareness amongst the community on Quran. It also enables to recite the Quran with Tajweed (science of reading the Quran) & correct form.

Aboobakker Edthanatukkara (President of IICR), Abdul Qayyum Bustani, Kunhi Kumbala, Abdullah Vallanchira, Adv. Abdul Jaleel, Naushad Ali Kozhikode, Mujeeb Ali Thodigappulam, Muhammad Kutty Kadannamanna, Fasal Rahman City Flower, Mujeeb Irumbuzhi, Jaleel Alappuzha, Arafat & others were present on the occasion.

Dubai, Aug 7: ‘Nama Tuluve’ Purushotham Salian, a staunch stalwart who always supported humanity and a strong pillar for Tuluvas in Dubai, passed away August, 4 at Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain. He was suffering from cancer and was admitted to Al Tawam Hospital Al Ain some time ago. He was on the last stage of illness which was not detected earlier.

His funeral last rites were conducted on Thursday August 7 at Jebel Ali cemetery in Hindu rites with a few of his family members present. Due to Covid pandemic, neither his body was able to be flown back to hometown nor could his two children come down to attend the funeral. However, it was said that his wish was to be cremated here in Dubai which unknowingly sometime back he whispered to one of his friends.

Purushotham had few years ago, survived a heart attack and fought back his life, though it had a minor paralytic effect on him. Even though, till recently he used to do his day-to-day work normally. He was a hard working personality and owned a readymade garment shop in Ajman and Dubai mostly taking care of clients with requirement of uniforms and coveralls. His dedication towards work was always appreciated by his clients who used to get their things delivered on time always.

He was never a publicity person and was helping the poor and needy in whatever ways he could silently. He strongly supported the community and was associated with Nama Tuluveru and Billawa community with commitment. He used to voluntarily come forward for the ground work of various functions of the community and used to be there until it was done perfectly.

Dubai: A blood donation drive was conducted by Karnataka Sports and Cultural Club (KSCC) at in Al Wasl Club Stadium here on Friday, 26th June 2020.

The drive started around 1:00 pm and continued till 4:00 pm as per schedule provided by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) Blood Donation Centre and 60 people donated blood to support the Blood Bank. The drive was well organised by maintaining social distance in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

As blood cannot be produced but only can be donated, this drive will help many patients in need of blood during emergencies. Donors were also feeling proud and happy at this moment thinking of saving someone’s life.

DHA Blood Donation Centre staff carried out the screening and testing done in very well manner keeping social distancing during this pandemic. Volunteers of KSCC were also helping the staff to keep people in safe distance and to make this drive a success.

KSCC Manager Mr. Mohammad Shafi and other office bearers were present at the event venue. KSCC thanked the volunteers, Community Development of Authority (CDA), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Blood Donation Centre, Government of Dubai and Al Wasl Club Stadium for making the event successful.
