Abu Dhabi: BWF urges to ease eligibility for NRIs to get govt. seats in professional colleges

Abu Dhabi, Jan 7: Bearys Welfare Forum-Abu Dhabi has urged the Karnataka government to simplify the process of obtaining seats in professional colleges for Nonresident Indians of south Indian state.

In a memorandum forwarded to the authorities concerned through former Karnataka education minister and Congress leader B A Mohideen, the Forum demanded them to ease the eligibility for government seats for the children of Karnataka based NRIs in such colleges. The memorandum also explained the current difficulties faced by the NRIs for their wards.

Receiving the appeal, the former minister said that he would not only deliver it to the chief minister but also would fight for this cause.

Laid emphasis on the problems faced by community and society back home in India, he exhorted the community members to give utmost priority for education.

Reception

The memorandum was forwarded to the Mr Mohideen at a reception hosted by BWF-Abu Dhabi during his private visit to United Arab Emirates. The programme was held at Food Lands Hall, Abu Dhabi on Saturday, January 5.

BWF president Mohamed Ali Uchil welcomed the gathering and delivered introductory remarks. He highlighted the contributions and commitments of Mr Mohideen towards the downtrodden section of the society.

On the occasion, BWF requested the Congress high command to strongly consider Mr Mohideen for a Rajya Sabha M P seat or any other responsible post either in government or in Congress Party.

BWF vice presidents Hamza Abdul Kadar and Shaikh Bava were on the dais. All the xecutive members of the organisation participated in an informative interaction with the veteran politician.

BWF general secretary Abdulla Madumoole compered the programme. Coordinator Mohamed Rafeeq Krishnapur proposed vote of thanks. Abdul Ravoof recited the verses of holy Quran in the beginning.

Dubai: Karnataka Sports & Cultural Club (KSCC) distributed Eid Kit across the UAE (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah to the ) needy people on Eid al Fitr.

KSCC President Mr. Mohammed Ismail Said: “Eid is a Symbol of Gratitude and Unity. As the last few weeks have been hard for each one of us, we wanted to stand in solidarity to celebrate Eid, by helping labours and needy people. He also said that “We are together to be part of UAE. Serving these meals is our core social responsibility."

KSCC recently conducted humanitarian services during COVID-19 pandemic in 2 phases and conducted Blood Donation Drive. They have also planned to conduct next Blood Donation Drive on 25th May, 2020.

The KSCC main objective is to develop the expatriate community into a well-nourished section of society in the areas of social, sports and cultural activities.

Markaz Al Madeena Association, Eastern province, conducted JALS-E-UCHILA get together program at Dammam, Saudi Arabia on March 5,2020 on account of celebrating 28 years of social service dedicated by the organization.

The event chairman Noushad Uchil inaugurated the function. The organization president presided the program and delivered talk about the intention of the organization. Hashim Uchil has intorduced the social and academic contribution of the organization of past 28 years. Jamal Uchil welcomed the gathering and Ismail G.I. host the program.

Games, Quiz and prize distribution to the winners and senior social workers was the special attraction of the event. The planning committee of the event includes Iqbal, Farooq, Shahul Hameed, Ramza, Nabeel, Afthar, Ashraf and Shafi.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.
