Dubai, Jan 31: Under the auspices of Alvas Education Foundation, Moodabidri the newly formed ‘UAE Ghataka’ led by Dr. Mohan Alva himself is all set for the launch of ‘Alva’s Vishwa Nudisiri-Virasat 2013’ which becomes the first international event of the Foundation.

The members of the unit met at Fortune Plaza Hotel, on Wednesday with Dr. Mohan Alva in chair.

Dr Alva expressing happiness over the response explained the chronological order how the Nudisiri and Virasat came into existence.  He said that the main reason behind this is the love to our language, culture and tradition which we need to spread across the world.  We need to take this as an interest individually not leaving the government alone to do it.

He said that this bold attempt of his to make Nudisiri-Virasat international is a challenge. He announced that the decennial Vishwa Nudisiri a ‘World Kannada Conference’ and ‘Vishwa Virasat’ cultural meet is scheduled for 19th to 22nd December, 2013 at Moodabidri and requested the UAE Ghataka members to attend.  Various community leaders and members including Auditor Kambli, Frank of Mosaco Shipping, Sudhakar Alva & Ganesh Rai of Bunts UAE, many ladies of various associations along with well-wishers attended the meeting.  With Dr. Alva’s request most of the attendees became members of the UAE Ghataka whole-heartedly.  Many members assured that they will emphasize to draw in many members from difference associations of Karnataka in UAE.

The three hour mega event which will be staged in Al Nasr Leisureland, Dubai tomorrow the 31st January, 2013 at 7 PM will open the curtains and stage 80 member students troupe from the Alvas Education Foundation.  The same event will also be staged in Abu Dhabi Indian School Auditorium, Abu Dhabi on 1st of February, 2013.  The programme includes dance, music and skits which will be a feast to the people in UAE.

The 80 member student’s troupe from Alvas Education Foundation has already arrived in Dubai today and was welcomed by the Ghataka Members at the Dubai Airport.

Doha: Qatar Indian Social Forum (QISF) once again set an example that no caste, creed, language and religion comes as hurdle for their humanitarian services and helped to perform last rites of Ramesh who committed suicide in Doha-Qatar.

45-year-old Ramesh son of K. Nagan hailing from Panikulam, Thrissur district in Kerala, who was working as a tailor committed suicide in his house at Ruwias in Qatar on 30th May 2020.

On hearing this news, some of his friends in Kearla informed Mr. Shihab who is also from Thrissur and a member of QISF and the same was brought to the notice of QISF humanitarian team head Mr. Abdul Latheef Madikeri and Basheer Ahmed of Tamil Nadu.

Immediately, the QISF team intervened and contacted the family members of the deceased in India and discussed the matter and consequences of sending the body back home to India in this pandemic COVID 19 situation.

Considering the prevailing situation, the family members gave the consent to bury the body in Qatar itself.

QISF team collected the required documents from the family of the deceased and managed to clear all the necessary formalities from the police department, Health Department, Embassy of India and Hamad Medical Corporation.

Finally, the body of the deceased was buried in Qatar on 7th June 2020 and the copies of all the relevant documents have been handed over to the family members.

The family members of the deceased thanked and applauded the leaders and all the members of QISF for their effective and on time humanitarian service rendered even in this pandemic crisis and having no bias.

Kuwait City, Aug 9: Indian social forum organised Blood Donation Camp in association with central blood bank kuwait on Friday, 7th August 2020.

The forum organised camp to support the high demand of blood in the context of COVID-19.

All arrangements to maintain COVID-19 protocol were made in the camp including segregation of donors as branch wise batches along with strict safety measures of participants.

Forum also had donated blood to many patients during the lockdown period. 

Hundreds of people donated blood in the camp. The camp organised in Blood Bank, Jabriya was successfully managed by Dr. Asma Rafat and leaders of Indian social forum Vice President Aslam, Secretory Sayyid Bukhari Thangal, Moideen Koya, Khaleel, Aseem, Mohammed Sha, Shihab, Naushad,
Indian Social Forum expressed their deep appreciation and gratitude to the doctors, staff and management of blood bank, forum’s members and donors.

The Overseas Indian Cultural Congress (OICC), Bahrain, has charted aircrafts to repatriate stranded expatriates to India. 

Boby Parayil, General Secretary, OICC National Committee, Bahrain has thanked all those who supported in this cause.

“The aircrafts were not licensed and were in crisis until the last minute. Finally, Mohammed Mansoor, president of Bahrain chapter of Indian Overseas Congress approached IOC Middle East in charge Dr Arathi Krishna, who helped get permission to operate flight to Kozhikode,” he said in a release. 

All mandatory approvals from the Foreign Ministry of Affairs and other government officials were accomplished by Dr Arathi Krishna. OICC has expressed gratitude to her for her timely support, he said. 

OICC is also grateful to former Kerala chief minister Oommen Chandy for doing necessary arrangements to get all the approvals for flight landing in Kerala, he added.
