‘Prophet Muhammad’s life should be emulated by all’

Abu Dhabi, Feb 15: Emirates India Fraternity Forum-Abu Dhabi sector organized a programme for expatriate Indians on life and message of Prophet Muhammad at City Palace Restaurant Hall, Abu Dhabi recently to mark Rabi-ul-Awwal month.

Mr. Majeed Aladka, in his key address on ‘Prophet Muhammad and his Message’ stressed on the importance of the teachings and life of Prophet Mohammad (SWAS).He narrated that before the birth of the Holy Prophet Sall-Allahualayhiwasallam, not only the Arabian peninsula, but also the so-called civilized nations were drowned in the darkness of ignorance, superstitions, oppression and unrest. The Holy Prophet, Sall-Allahualayhiwasallam, came with the eternal truth of Tawhid (Oneness of Allah), the only faith which provides a firm basis for the real concepts of knowledge, equity and peace. It was this faith which delivered humanity from ignorance and superstitions and spread the light of true knowledge all over the world.

Due to lack of Islamic knowledge and insignificant of moral science in our colleges and schools, the present youths have lost their moral values. It is the responsibility of the elders and the Parents to teach our youths about the Islamic culture.

“The whole world is celebrating and conducting programs about Prophet Mohammad (SWAS) in the month of Rabi'ul-Awwal but our mission should not be limited to only one month but it should continue throughout our lives,” he said.

EIFF is planning to conduct a Umrah program from 24th of April 2013 and appealed the audience to make use of this arrangement. The book title “Pearls of Knowledge” containing 1000 Islamic questions and answers were distributed to the audience. EIFF is planning to conduct a quiz competition on these questions during the month of May in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The programme started with reciting verses of holy Quran by Iqbal Aathoor followed with the welcome address by Janab Ashraf Machar.  Anees Hussain, AkramSaheb, (Al Sitara Gulf Gen. Maintenance) Majeed Aladka, Shaheer Chikmagalur and Abdul Rasheed Bejai were guests.

Mr. Shaheer Chikmagalur  in his address gave a short presentation about the Emirates India Fraternity Forum (EIFF) and its recent activities such as blood donation camp with conjunction with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, Amnesty Program, Dispatch of Dead bodies to India and burial of dead bodies, Sports meets etc. He explained about the assistance to the needy in job search, counseling program to the families and legal assistance. He also touched upon about the importance of this holy month of Rabi-ul-Awwal and also various social schemes conducted by EIFF and explained about distributions of pamphlets in 6 languages pertaining to Amnesty. He appealed the audience to give helping hands to EIFF in its future programs.

Mangaluru, May 22: An elderly cardiac patient from Dakshina Kannada, who was stranded in Saudi Arabia due to covid-19 lock-down, has finally reached his homeland thanks to the timely intervention by Humanity Forum Jubail and Indian Social Forum.

The elderly man hailing from Kadaba area of Dakshina Kannada was admitted to a hospital in Madinah. However, his condition continued to worsen due to lack of proper treatment. The efforts by his family members to bring him back home had not yielded results.

Meanwhile, one of the relatives of the patient, Ansari Suratkal, who happens to be a DKSC activist, brought the issue to the notice of the Karnataka unit of the Indian Social Forum in Dammam. ISF contacted Humanity Forum president Zakariya Jokatte, who helped the patient to speak directly union minister D V Sadananda Gowda in a video conference organised by coastaldigest.com.

Humanity Forum also persuaded the Indian Embassy to allow the stranded cardiac patient to fly back to India through Dammam-Bengaluru repatriation flight on May 20. 

However, it was not easy for the patient to travel from Madinah to Dammam International Airport due to lock-down and curfew. ISF not only obtained travel permission for him but also arranged vehicle. Jeddah and Riyadh units of ISF helped in obtaining permission letter in their respective places in spite of travel ban imposed by the police. Madinah unit of ISF arranged vehicle for transportation. Zakariya Jokatte bore the air ticket and other expenses of the patient.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.
