Dubai: Dr B K Yusuf re-elected as president of Bearys Cultural Forum

Dubai, Feb 19: The UAE based Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) recently held its ninth annual general meeting at Hotel Bangalore Umpire Auditorium, Dubai.

The evening saw Beary men and women from Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and other parts of UAE participating in large numbers in the programme.

A mass recitation of Maulood was held prior to the general meeting under the leadership of M E Moolur. Dr B K Yusuf, Dr Kaup Mohammed, Abdul Rahman, Latheef Mulki, Ibrahim Karnad, Haneef Kaup, Abdul Razaq Dewa, Abdullah Madumule, Abdul Rahman Sajipa, Akbar M B, Nawaz Kotekar, Ashraf Sattikal and several others took part in the ritual with great zeal.

The annual meeting commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by Tanveer Abdul Razaq.

In his keynote address, vice president of BCF Dr M E Moolur briefed upon the purpose and approach of the Forum and gave a call to the youngsters to continue with the Islamic mission of rendering service to the society by occupying responsible posts in the organisation.

Delivering the presidential address, Dr B K Yusuf touched on the goals and future projects of the organisation and said that BCF had gained recognition not only in the state of Karnataka but also globally. The contribution of youth is essential to the future development of the organisation and it is up to them to steer and guide it further. The organisation which has rendered significant service in educational, social and cultural spheres had to persist steadfastly in its social service, he said.

Secretary Dr Kaup Mohammed read out the annual report and listed out the social activities the forum had undertaken in the past two years. Auditor Haneef Kaup spoke on the occasion and gave a brief critical analysis on the forum's activities.

A new working committee was formed and the list of members was read out on the occasion. Dr B K Yusuf was selected as the president of the Forum, Thumbe Moideen of Ajman Gulf Medical College as founding patron, B M Farooq of Fiza Group and Syed Mohammed Beary of Beary Group as patrons(Bangalore) and Mumtaz Ali of Badriya Educational Institution as Patron (Mangalore).

M E Moolur, Latheef Mulki, Abdul Razaq Dewa, Ameeruddin and Salim Altaf were chosen as vice-presidents, Dr Kaup Mohammed as general secretary, Abdul Rahman Sajipa and Rafiq Mulki as joint secretaries, Ataullah as treasurer, Tauseef Razaq as finance officer, M B Akbar as cultural secretary, and Nawaz Kotekar and Imtiyaz Ullal as convenors.

Committee members include Hussain Sattikal, Usman Moolur, Abdul Gafoor, Mohammed Kisar, Afeeq, Latheef B L, Ibrahim Karnad, Asghatullah, Ibrahim Dubal, Ashraf Jokatte, Ameeruddin Madikeri, Tanveer Razaq, Rafeeq Puttaka and Anwar Sadat.

Ashraf Ali was selected as the president of Sharjah unit. Mumtaz Zakir was selected as the president of the women's committee, Waheeda as vice-president, Shehnaz Suleiman as secretary and Asiya M E as treasurer.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.
