Handing over a feasibility study report prepared by JF Riyadh unit for direct flight operation between Mangalore and Riyadh to Coastaldigest.com chairman Muhammad Asif at a programme here recently, former president of the unit Parvez Ali requested him to intensify campaign for Mangalore-Riyadh direct flight too. “You have to take the lead in this cause,” he said.

Mr Ali said that led by Mr Asif, Coastaldigest.com team’s relentless effort proved helpful for thousands of expatriates in Saudi Arabia, who can now fly directly between Dammam and Mangalore.

He said that Mr Asif had run from pillar to post umpteen number of times, meeting officials and elected representatives to get green signal for airlines to operate direct flight between Mangalore and Saudi Arabia.

“He should continue his efforts with same spirit, and pressurise the authorities concerned to commence direct flight operation on Riyadh- Mangalore sector,” Mr Ali urged on behalf of JF and promised all kinds of support for this cause from his organisation.

Responding to the request, Mr Asif said that Coastaldigest.com would continue its effort towards connecting Riyadh and Jeddah, the two main cities of Saudi Arabia directly with Mangalore.

“It is my desire to see that apart from Dammam, two other major cities - Riyadh and Jeddah - connected directly with Mangalore. I will work until it get connected,” he said.

He also said that he is planning to bring Udupi-Chikmagalur MP K Jayaprakash Hegde, who had supported Mangalore –Dammam direct flight, through the inaugural flight on April 3 to Dammam and arrange for a meeting with NRIs in Riyadh under the banner of JF Riyadh unit.
