Jeddah: JF and KNRI Forum felicitate JP Hegde, UT Khader

Jeddah, Apr 8: The local unit of Jamiyyatul Falah (JF) and Karnataka NRI Forum (KNRIF) jointly organised a felicitation programme for Udupi-Chikmagalur MP K Jayaprakash Hegde and Mangalore MLA U T Khader, who visited Saudi Arabia through the maiden Mangalore-Dammam flight. Coastdigest.com chairman Mohammed Asif was also present.

The programme at Jeddah Trident Hotel on April 5, commenced with recitation of verses from holy Quran by Shaikh Saoud followed by the patriotic song in Kannada by Mohammed Kaleem. President of Karnataka NRI Forum, Mohammed Mansoor welcomed and introduced the guests.

Mohammed Iqbal Yousuf, the Founder of Jamiyyatul Falah, Mohammed Aslam Kazi, Managing Director Basem International Shipping and Logistics Company Ltd, Vishwanath Hegde, Managing Director Intermodal Services of SA, Shabih A. Kazi, Founder Member of Jamiyyatul Falah, Rafiuddin Fazalbhoy, Founder of Indian Embassy School and members of JF and KNRIF were among the dignitaries who took part in the event.

S.M. Jaffer addressed a number of community concerns including direct flights between Mangalore and Jeddah, voting rights/Adhar cards for NRIs, admission to NRI children for professional courses, opportunity to participate in any governmental infrastructure/ development projects, establishing a NRI cell/ grievance cell, government housing project for small /medium income group etc.

The same was presented in the form of a memorandum to Jayaprakash Hegde by B P Abid, President of JF, Jeddah.

Mohammed Aslam Kazi and Br. B P Abid have presented the memento to Mr Hegde and Mr Khader on behalf of Jamiyyatul Falah Jeddah and Vishwanath Hegde and Mohammed Mansoor presented the memento to the duo on behalf of Karnataka NRI Forum, Jeddah.

Presenting a brief chronology of the organization before the audience, Mohammed Iqbal Yousuf said that JF was the first community socio welfare organization to be established in Jeddah to serve the poor masses back home and it has been serving for the last 25 years. He also highlighted the potential opportunities existing for participation under public private partnership (PPP) for Mangalore Airport and other infrastructure projects in Karnataka.

He said that earlier he had presented studies on the Mangalore Airport Development to the union minister M Veerappa Moily. A copy of his plan for further developing Mangalore Airport was submitted to Mr. J.P. Hegde. The idea of PPP was welcomed by Mr. Hegde and assured that he will raise the issues with the concerned authorities in India.

Krishna Jangal briefed the audience about the various activities under taken by Karnataka NRI Forum in Jeddah and services rendered to poor back home.

Mr. Hegde addressed the gathering with overwhelming applaud. Speaking about the current situation of regularizing the NRI illegals in the Kingdom, he informed that he and Mangalore MLA U T Khader had fruitful discussion with the Indian Ambassador in Riyadh. He assures that he will discuss the Mangalore – Jeddah direct flight issue with the concerned authorities. He also assured to take necessary action to resolve the issues outlined in the memorandum submitted to him.

Mr Khader said that he will stand shoulder to shoulder with the take up the issues of NRIs with the state government. He stressed that awareness programmes need to be conducted back home to educate the new comers to Saudi Arabia.

Mr  Asif assured that he will continue his efforts for the cause of direct flight from Mangalore to Jeddah.

Roshan Rodrigues, vice president Karnataka NRI Forum proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the dinner.

Kuwait: Eid is usually a time of family get-togethers and feasts after weeks of dawn-to-dusk fasting. But this year people celebrated at home, with virus fears dampening the holiday spirit and strict restrictions in place.

Kuwait went under full curfew before the start of Ramadan leaving people to practice fasting and Ramadan rituals at home, Even Eid al-Fitr came under full lock-down period.

As situation demanded, IMA Kuwait celebrated the Eid Get-together online via video conferencing tool, All IMA members participated joyfully in Eid Milan online gathering which was scheduled immediately after Eid prayer. Members participated and congratulated each other on the eve of Eid.

The IMA president Shamvel Parviz addressed the gathering and thanked them for joining online for this unique Eid celebration which will be remembered in history. He also advised members to be aware of conditions of neighbors, friends and family and assist them if they need help in this difficult time.

Eid al-Fitr follows weeks of fasting and marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of Muslims all over Kuwait followed strict guideline and performed Eid prayer at home along with their family.

As a part of social service activities IMA also distributed ration kits before start of Ramadan and during Ramadan for needy people all over Kuwait.

Riyadh, Jan 28: The celebration of the 71st Republic Day was held on January 26th by the Central Committee of the Indian Social Forum Riyadh at the Ramada Hotel Auditorium in Riyadh. People from different Indian states and different religious backgrounds were present during the event.

The program was inaugurated with the unity song, Saleem Moulavi– Regional committee member India Fraternity Forum/Riyadh inaugurated the program.

Social Forum Central Committee president Janab Harris Mangaluru chaired the program and welcomed the guests. In his presidential speech he described and uncovered stories of freedom struggle and participants of Indian Muslims for the freedom fight. He urged everyone to fight against unconstitutional Citizenship Amendment Bill which passed by Centre government. He said that the We will continue its agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and the NRC and would not relent unless the Union government withdrew the Act.

Indian Social Forum Karnataka State Committee member Janab Mohammed Naveed delivered the Republic Day message. He said India was formed based on concept of ‘unity in diversity’ and it becomes every Indians’ responsibility to safeguard it. He expressed concern over CAA, NRC and NPR. Across India, students at other universities are against the Citizenship Amendment Act passed by Centre government.  The law offers amnesty to undocumented migrants from three neighboring Muslim-majority countries but only if they are non-Muslim. Critics say that by excluding Muslims, the law establishes a religious test for Indian citizenship, in violation of the secularism enshrined in India's constitution. The Indians, irrespective of caste, creed, religion and region have firmly resolved to oppose the draconian laws and fascist moves to debar the poor. Constitution granted to every person and citizen of India who are not ready to put them on a test of ideology of RSS and programs of BJP to implement the Brahmanist mind-set. He said that the police atrocities against CAA/NRC/NPR protesters had increased only in BJP-ruled States and  there were several loose ends in the police story about the incidents leading to the firing.

Jeddah: Indian Pilgrims Welfare Forum (IPWF) under the patronage of consulate General of India Jeddah related to welfare activities connected to Indian hajj pilgrims in particular and welfare functions of Indian community at large, organized Quran recitation competition for Indian students of age 10 to 14 residing in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Grand Finale was conducted Live online via Zoom virtual conference on Friday 15th May 2020 at 14:45 Hrs.

The Consul General Of India, Jeddah and Vice Patron IPWF, H.E.Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Shiekh graced the Grand Finale as honorable Chief Guest. The HOC, Consul Hajj and Director IPWF - Mr. Y Sabir attended as Guest of Honor, while the ever-exuberant President of the forum Mr. Ayyub Hakeem lead the event. A large number of Indian dignitaries and media personnel also joined this live event.

Judges panel included three experienced youths. First judge was the Prominent Hafiz and one of the best Qaris of his calibre, Hafiz Ismail Yahya Bilal, well educated in Qirat from Umm Al Qura University Makkah and currently persuing Masters. He also holds many honors and accolades from various international competitions and appreciations from Imaams of Haramain. The other judge, Hafiz Abdullah A.Mateen Usmani, first position winner, a record for being youngest Indian to win Jeddah Quran competition 2018 under patronage of Jeddah Governor.  Hafiz Farhan Abdur Rab, was the third judge, an Engineer by profession, as well as current Treasurer at IPWF.

Winners; Humeirah Masood Kazi and Furqan Mohammed Vasi Ahmed won Gold position. Maryam Jaffar and Adil Abdul Rasheed ranked Silver while Khatija Ehtesham Ali and Nadeem Noorisha ranked Bronze. Consolation prizes were given to Aamina Mustafa and Mohammed Ahsan Ali. The event was organized to encourage and boost the ambitions of young generation and inspring them to bring out their best in Quran Recitation

While speaking at the event Chief Guest H.E.Mr. Md.Noor Rahman Sheikh appreciated the social works of IPWF for Indian Community, praised the brilliant performance of students, He said it gives us great pleasure seeing that all participants, Judges and Jury members are Indians, he said the recitation of the children was fantabulous, and congratulated to the winners and participants. Chief Guest further said President Ayyub Hakeem and his IPWF Team deserves to be appreciated for their relentless efforts for this Noble cause, even in this period when the world is observing lockdown.

HOC, Consul Hajj Mr. Y Sabir appreciated IPWF team for organizing this virtual competition, he said it’s really amazing that 111 students registered to participate for the contest, he appreciated the hard work of children and efforts of parents for preparing their children.

Mr. Hakeem welcomed all and informed that this competition received overwhelming response from Indian community locally and internationally in short time since its launch was just couple of days earlier. Which compliments events Objective to encourage children “mainly Indians residing in Saudi Arabia” especially during the month of Quran “Ramadan” and lockdown period #COVID-19. 

40 contestants made it to the Semifinals, and 15 Students reached the Grand Finale, 2 young children were given consolation for their enthusiastic recitation. 

The President also appreciated his IPWF Team for unwavering support in preparation of this event.  He thanked the Chief Guest, HE Mr. Md. Noor Rahman Sheikh and Guest of Honor Mr. Y Sabir for gracing this glorious competition. He Thanked the audience and announced that all contestants will be awarded appreciation “digital certificate’

Syed Nasir Khursheed anchored the program, and entertained with beautiful Urdu couplets. Farhan Abdur Rab and Abdul Rahman Poyakkara conducted the contest flawlessly on time. Farhan, concluded the event with Vote of Thanks and soleful dua.
