MYZ Reliance clinch JF silver jubilee cricket trophy 2013

Jeddah, Apr 27: Jamiyyatul Falah, a Mangalore based NGO, conducted limited over tape ball knockout series of cricket tournament at Bagdadiya flood light ground, Jeddah, recently.

The event was inaugurated with the recitation of verses of Holy Quran by Mohammed Iqbal. Opening bowl by Shaikh Nadeem (co-sponsor of the tournament) from MSC Shipping Co, was played by Shabih Ahmed Kazi (founder member of JF).

As many as 16 well known cricket teams from Jeddah took part in the series. In the first knock out round all 16 teams played as per the fixtures to qualify for quarter finals. In the semifinal round four winning teams; Raising Star Cricketers, Dazzle Supper Kings, MYZ Reliance and Target Guys have emerged their competency and for the grand finale of JF Silver Jubilee Cricket Trophy 2013 MYZ Reliance and Raising Star teams were qualified.

An eye catching superb all round performance from the MYZ Reliance team captured Jeddah’s one of the highest honored cricket tournament hosted by Jamiyyatul Falah Jeddah Unit by beating the Raising Star Cricketers with 14 runs and bag the title.

In the final match MYZ Reliance team decided to bat first after winning the toss and played well. Al though the team lost its first wicket in the very first ball of the innings, Ali and Naeem had scored 76 on second wicket partnership. When the middle order was unable to score up and lost 7 wickets for 95 runs, the skipper Sukesh has played captaincy game with Iqbal by adding 43 runs partnership for 8th wicket in last two over and have recorded the highest total of the tournament 142 for 9.

Chasing the huge target of 143 in 10 over match, Raising Star Crickets had good start and scored 55 runs in the first wicket partnership but the fall of middle order players costs them to lose the final match by 14 runs.

The colorful grand presentation ceremony organized by JF Jeddah Unit started by the recitation of verses from Holy Quran which was followed by welcome address by JF Jeddah President Br. B. P Abid and honored all team members of both the teams and presented individual participation cups and medals.

The well known commentator MMM Naushad presented the complete match coverage and appreciated the spirit of JF Members for conducting such a great cricket tournament.

Man of the Final Match was bagged by Mr. Sahil from MYZ Reliance for his best bowling figures 2/17 which was the turning point of the final match. Man of the Series Cup was presented to Mr. Amir from Raising Star Crickets for his excellent all round performance who had scored 142 runs in the tournament with 17 sixes and 6 boundaries and he also had 2 stumping and 4 run out while keeping the wicket. Best Bowler of the tournament award won by Mr. Nazir from MYZ Reliance for his best performance of 6/20. Mr. Adil from Target Guys has been recognized as the best catcher of the tournament for his 4 great diving catches and Mr. Salim from Dazzel Super Kings for his highest individual scores of 52* in one single innings. Special honor was also extended to the Umpires and commentator MMM Naushad for their dedicated services in the tournament.

The runners up cup was presented by JF Jeddah President Br. B P Abid to the Raising Star Cricketers Team. “Cricket is a game where no one can predict up to the  last ball and the all round performance from the MYZ Reliance took them forward” said the captain of Raising Star after receiving the cup.

It was the festive time for the winning team members and skipper Mr. Sukesh of MYZ Reliance team received the Winners Cup from JF Founder Mr. Mohammed Iqbal Yusuf and founder member Mr. Shabih A. Kazi.

Mr.  Sukesh said he dedicate the cup to the Team upon remarkable all round performance which lead this victory and thanked all supporters and JF for organizing such a wonderful event.

Addressing the gathering JF Founder Mr. Iqbal Yusuf congratulated the winning team and briefed the activities of Jamiyyatul Falah in general. Extending his warm regards to all Executive Committee Members, volunteers of Cricket Tournament Organizing Committee of JF Jeddah Unit, Br. Iqbal captioned that our community and the peoples in back home need to be served in various areas and appealed to all for support JF which has its slogan as Education is Key to Success.

Vice President Br. Nazir Ahmed delivered the vote of thanks to all. The grand finale programme was compered by Mohammed Mansoor.

In a humanitarian gesture to help fellow citizens in distress, the first in the series of chartered 
flights arranged by Thumbay Group, UAE and the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) Trust, 
Mangalore to repatriate stranded Kannadigas in the UAE took off from Ras Al Khaimah 
International Airport in the wee hours of 21st July 2020. The flight was fully occupied, with 186 passengers, all of them desperate to fly back to India for various reasons.

The initiative was conceived and implemented under the leadership of Dr. Thumbay Moideen - Founder President of Thumbay Group & Founder Patron of BCF and Dr. B K Yusuf, the 
President of BCF. The flight was organized on a purely charitable basis, with all necessary 
steps and precautions in place to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers. Thumbay Group assigned its fleet of buses to transport the passengers free of charge from their residences in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman to the airport. The organizers also provided free meals and refreshments to the passengers, in addition to PPE kits and face-shields distributed free of 
charges.

The passengers on the first flight included many elderly individuals, people with serious 
illnesses like heart-related health issues and diabetes, pregnant ladies and little children as well as people who had lost their jobs and those with expired visas. Dr. B K Yusuf – BCF President, Dr. Kaup Mohammed - BCF General Secretary, other office bearers of BCF, as well as Thumbay Group’s representatives Mr. Farhad C – Director of the Hospitality Division of 
Thumbay Group and Engr. Farwaz P. C. – COO of the Construction Division were present at 
the airport to see off the first group of passengers.

Commenting on the initiative, Dr. Thumbay Moideen said, “This joint initiative of Thumbay 
Group and BCF is to support our fellow Kannadigas desperate to fly back home. We are happy that we have been able to reach out to many of them, to help them fly home to their families. We thank the Governments of the UAE and India, and the Indian Consulate, Dubai, for their support in making this happen. In the coming days, many more stranded Kannadigas would be repatriated under this joint initiative.”
Dr. B K Yusuf thanked Dr. Thumbay Moideen and the office-bearers and members of BCF for 
their efforts to make the initiative a success.

“We are proud that this initiative has brought relief to many Kannadigas and their families today. BCF is grateful to Thumbay Group for its support and partnership for all our humanitarian programs for the support of the needy.”

Dr. Kaup Mohammed said that it was a matter of pride that the much-awaited Thumbay-BCF 
repatriation flight had been carried out successfully. “Measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the flight and its passengers throughout the journey,” he said. He also thanked all the social organizations including Bhatkal Jamath, BCCI, BWF, KCF, DKSC, Kodagu Kannadigas, 
Kannadiga Help Line, Dubai Konkans and KSS, for their support. He specially thanked Mr. 
Syed Hassan Razeen, the owner of ARISTOCRAT Travels for his support in the ticketing, 
boarding and related processes. On behalf of Milano Optics Group and Maxcare, free gift 
hampers were distributed to selected passengers.

The passengers were received at Mangalore airport under the leadership of Mr. Mumtaz Ali - patron of BCF and other distinguished personalities of Mangalore including Mr. Moidin Bava - former MLA, Mr U. T. Ifthikhar, Mr. S. M. R Rashid - President of BCCI central committee and many others. The passengers were transferred to the hotels where they had registered for the mandatory quarantine.

The second flight under this joint initiative is scheduled to take-off from Ras Al Khaimah airport to Mangalore on 24th July 2020. A few more similar repatriation flights are to soon follow, in the coming weeks.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

Dubai, Aug 7: One may call it good luck, but for two Indian expats it was God who prevented them at the last minute from boarding the Air India Express plane that crashed in Kerala, killing at least 18 people on board.

According to India's Civil Aviation Ministry, the Boeing 737 aircraft on a flight from Dubai to Kozhikode overshot the runway at Kozhikode airport on Friday evening. There were 184 passengers including 10 infants, 2 pilots and four cabin crew onboard the aircraft.

Noufal Moin Vetten, an Ajman resident working as an office boy in a Sharjah school, was booked to travel on the flight and had checked in as per schedule.

Recounting his miraculous escape, Vetten, a resident of Malappuram, Thirunavaya, whose visa was cancelled a week ago, told Gulf News: “I was handed my boarding pass, but when I reached immigration, they told me I had to pay a fine of Dh 1,000 (Rs 20,430) for overstay. I had only Dh 500 (Rs10,215) with me.

"I called my school PRO and he told me to come back. He said they would follow protocols and pay the fines before sending me,“ he said.

Vetten was disappointed and called his family to let them know.

“When I heard about the crash, I was saddened for all the passengers. But I'm so relieved I missed it. God has been really merciful,” said Vetten.

Afsal Parrakodan, a resident of Abu Dhabi, had a similar stroke of luck.

“My work visa was cancelled about a week ago. After getting my boarding pass, I was told I had to pay a fine of Dh1,000 at the immigration counter, but I had only Dh500 on me.”

“I was very keen to board the flight and be with my family. So I called a friend who brought me the additional Dh500, but by then, my baggage had been offloaded and the flight's doors were closed,” said Parrakodan.

“I was feeling very sad and called my mother to tell her I had missed the flight. But a few hours later, when I learnt of the crash, I couldn’t help but feel relieved and thankful to God for saving my life,“ said an overwhelmed Parrakodan who plans to fly back next week.
