RAK: Scholars Indian School emerges overall champion in Holy Quran recitation

Ras-al-khaimah, May 19: “We should understand the meaning of the verses of Holy Quran while reading it and follow its guidance for the best life hereafter,” said Prof M Abubaker, principal, Scholars Indian School, Ras-al-khaimah, UAE.

He was speaking at the inaugural function of the sixth inter-school Holy Quran recitation competition held Scholars Auditorium, here.

Stating that the Holy Quran is the only Book which guides you in the right direction, he said it is the noor and the way of life in which everything has mentioned of life here and hereafter.

“Reciting should be as if it is talking to you directly and penetrating your heart and intellect. The very thought of such direct reception will keep your heart seized by what you are reading,” he said.

The competition was arranged by the Holy Quran Foundation of RAK with the sponsorship of RAK FTZ an Al Tarheeb electromechanical RAK.

Sheikh Abdusattar Khatab inaugurated the programme by reciting the verses  from the Holy Quran. Amna Al Dehhi of RAK FTZ and Tariq Nawaz MD of Al Tarheeb, Mr.Habib Mundol the Chairman of Scholars was present on the occasion. Mr.Ashraf Amani the HOD of English proposed vote of thanks.

Results

Scholars Indian School, RAK has achieved overall championship and the Central School Dubai got Runner up in the competition.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.

Dubai, Aug 6: Non-resident Indian entrepreneur and philanthropist Dewakara Alva passed away on Thursday August 6. He was 63.

Alva, who hailed from Mangaluru, was the director of Federal Insurance Brokers LLC, Dubai and was residing in Dubai for around four decades. He was reportedly suffering from health problems for last few months. 

He was a patron of Tulu and Kannada language and culture in United Arab Emirates. He was a member of various NRI organizations including UAE Tulu Koota and UAE Bunts

Alva is survived by wife Saritha, daughter Powshali, and son Manal.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter distributed Food Kits for Indian expatriates labors who were in trouble due to Corona lockdown on April 6, 2020 at a labor camp here in Al Khobar.

The labors, most of them are from the staes of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh And Uttar Pradesh, were in trouble without food.

 Recieving the information leaders of Indian Social Forum immediately visited the camp to take survey.

Indian Social Forum with the help of donors distributed food kits. Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka Chapter president Mr.Mohammed Shareef Jokatte expressed gratitude for donors for their contribution.
