Al-Madinah - Malaz decennial year celebrated

Riyadh, Jun 18: The decennial year celebrations and the annual gathering of the Malaz unit of Al-Madinah Yateem Khana Manjanady, was held at Hotel Ramada hall recently.

At the beginning of the programme, Abdul Khader Saadat Ullal read out the qiraat. Welcoming the gathering, Siddiq Saqafi Peruvai also explained the importance of the activities of the organisation.

President Abbas Ullal gave a short introduction of the organisation, and described its journey during its ten years of existence.

He said that the multi-storeyed building in Deralakatte, Mangalore, which was being constructed by the organisation, was under progress, and would be readied soon. He said that the revenue generated by this venture would be used for the welfare of the orphaned and destitute children, and provide for their education.

In his presidential address, Ustad Yusuf Saqafi Bythar said that the society recognises a person due to his knowledge, character and wealth. A person with all three would be lucky. Al-Madinah has been rendering service of the highest class in this direction from the past decade. If such organisations are nourished, a great change could be seen in the society, he said.

On the occasion, the previous committee was dissolved and a new one was elected. Abbas Ullal was chosen as president, S A Abdul Khader as vice-president, Mansoor Padikkal as secretary, Abdul Hameed Pare as joint-secretary, Abdul Jaleel Deralakatte as treasurer, Abdul Khader Ullal as auditor and Ibrahim Padikkal was chosen as convenor.

Ismail Montepadavu, Haneef Kairangala, Ibrahim Hammabba Ullal, Zahir Ullal, Ansar Ullal, Samshuddin Montepadavu, Ismail Kairangala, Aboobaker Montepadavu, Abdul Raheem Kaikamba, Sameer Ullal, Suhail Ullal, Asif Morla, Asif Kairangala, Ansar Padikkal and Hasainar Zuhuri Manjanady were chosen as members of working committee.

Dammam: Indian Social Forum, Dammam, Karnataka chapter organized a "Live along with COVID-19" webinar on 29 May 2020 in association with HealthCare Polyclinic, Dammam.

The webinar at Zoom App. featured over 150+ resident Kannadigas from Saudi Arabia's eastern and neighboring provinces.

Dr. Shailendranath made a presentation on the program and gave useful information. Indian Social Forum Dammam, Karnataka Chapter President Sharif Joktake delivered the keynote address. General Secretary Irshad Jokatte stalled the program.

Dubai: In response to UAE health authorities encourage blood donation campaign Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta - U.A.E, conducted blood donation camps on April 22 at Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and on 23/04/2020 at Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah.

The Abu Dhabi camp was inaugurated by Head of Department of Abu Dhabi Blood Bank, On this occasion she gave brief inputs of the benefits and features of blood donation, urged the participants to spread greater awareness about the importance of blood donation and congratulated the AKO members for their selfless social service and wished all the best for their future endeavours.

Abdul Rasheed, President of AKO presided over the function and Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta Vice President Mr. Mohammad Nasir appreciated the effort for organizing this camp and gathering youths to be a part of this noble cause as life is precious on this earth. "Each drop of blood counts much, so kindly take it as personal compassion to help unknown who requires blood with no relatives to help him/her.

In Abu Dhabi 41 and in Sharjah 49 donors participated in this event and donated their blood. It was nice to see cheerful smiling donors doing a great community work.
Blood bank staff and AKO Organizing team enthusiastically arranged the campaign which was witnessed by many members and leaders of various community organization of Karnataka.

Anivasai Kannadigara Okkuta President briefed the participates about the ongoing social work of AKO in this current COVID-19 pandemic grim situation AKO is working on following fields: AKO Members have stepped up to support needy community during the Covid-19 pandemic have gone out of their way to comfort those struggling to deal with the challenging situation.

While thousands of people continue to #StayHome, many are in quarantine, there are those on visit visa and stuck here, others have lost jobs or face salary cuts. AKO in coordination with UAE Embassy and other social organization have been able to ensure basic necessities are fulfilled with food provisions and medical assistance to needy.

Providing counselling to bachelors and families those are on quarantine and isolation.

The organizers thanked everybody especially, UAE Health Authority, Abu Dhabi Blood Bank Khaldiya and Blood Transfusion and Research Centre, Sharjah, Management and staff as well as donors for their time and support for the good cause.

Dr Soofi Anwar, Director Academics of University of Stirling RAK, UAE Campus, has achieved the prestigious professional recognition of Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) UK. He has achieved this milestone through the Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE), the Continuing Professional Development Framework (CPD) for learning and teaching at University of Stirling, Scotland, UK. 

He was recognized for this achievement on recently concluded virtual Learning & Teaching Conference-2020 organized by University of Stirling Campus in UK.  He has secured his Ph.D. in Management from University of Azteca, Mexico.

Dr. Soofi Anwar has over 20 years of experience in teaching and academic leadership at higher education level and has worked in leading universities in UAE, Bahrain and India. He was conferred the prestigious Middle East Education Leadership Award, as the Best Professor in Management-2018 in recognition of his academic excellence, exemplary leadership in higher education. Prior to his current role, he has worked on leadership position in Birla Institute of Technology Offshore Campus RAK.

He has completed his MBA from Dept. of Business Administration, Mangalore University in 1999 and his B. Com degree from Canara College Mangaluru.

He has published numerous research papers in management and in the area of teaching and learning in higher education in reputed academic journals and international conferences proceedings. He is a member of editorial board of two leading management journals and engaged in reviewing faculty research publications in the area of management and marketing. 

He is a son of Haji Abdul Khadar Kodijal and Mrs. Mariyamma from Konaje, Mangaluru.
