25th CDC cricket tournament-2013 gets underway

Doha, Sep 30: Construction Development Co. (CDC) are sponsoring the Qatar Veteran’s Cricket League for a 25th time. At the inaugural ceremony Sanjiv Jain, Business Development Manager of CDC played a ball in the presence of CDC and MIC teams along with Qatar Veterans’ Cricket League members.

Experienced CDC and M. Pallonji registered their first wins in the inaugural matches of the 25th CDC Cricket Tournament 2013.

The sponsor’s team CDC defeated MIC by 4 wickets in a last ball thriller. MIC won the toss and elected to bat first. They managed a defendable total of 185 runs for 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Istiaq 38 runs, Prasanna 35 runs and Baqer 30 runs were the main batting contributors for MIC.

For CDC Srinivas took 3 wickets. In reply, CDC had given a strong start and subsequent support from the Middle order gave them a last ball victory in the end. The man of the match captain Mahesh with quick fire 35 runs got good support from Thomas 30.

In the Division I match, M Pallonji defeated Serandeep-A by 5 wickets.

Qalco 224 for 8 in 20 overs ( Talha 75 in 27 balls with 9 6’s, Inthiqab 50 in 18 balls with 6 6’s, Ashraf 2 for 11) Beat Tulukutta  116 all out in 16.5 overs ( Shafiq 3 for 20, Buddika 2 for 3, Shahid 2 for 10 ).  Man of the match – Talha of Qalco.

MIC 185 for 7 in 20 overs ( Istiaq 38, Baqer 30, Prasanna 35. Srinivas 3 for 20 ) Lost to CDC 186 for 7 in 20 overs ( Mahesh 35, Thomas 30.) Man of the match – Mahesh of CDC.

Brunel 253 for 9 in 20 overs ( Dhammika 70, Faws 51, Ravi 22, Charles 25. Kiran 2 for 10, Manish 2 for 22)  Beat Vijay Arabia 99 all out in 15.1 overs ( Fousy 2 for 7, Saddam 2 for 11, Rila 2 for 9 ) Man of the match – Dhammika of Brunel.

Readymix 124 all out in 20 overs ( Rafaqat 33. Manhara 2 for 6 ) Beat  Serandeep-B 66 all out in 14.5 overs ( Zahid 2 for 0, Arshad 2 for 5 ).  Man of the match – Manhara of Serandeep-B.

ACC 41 all out in 6.2 overs ( Sajjad 3 for 13, Shakeel 2 for 3 ) Lost to Hanan XII 42 for 3 in 5.1 overs .  Man of the match – Sajjad of Hanan XII

Kuwait: Friday Forum Kuwait conducted its 12th inter-school Islamic Elocution Competition at Hotel Rajadhani Palace, Khaitan on 1st January 2020. 

The competition, which was held in the senior and junior categories had participation from 15 Indian Schools across Kuwait comprising of 43 students. In the senior category, Ayisha Wafiya of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Efrem Joseph of Indian Community School, Amman won the second prize. 

In the junior category, Hima Jameela of Indian Community School, Khaitan bagged the first prize and Fadhel Kandapath of Fahaheel Al Wataniya Indian School won the second prize. Nawaal Yaseen Ebrahim of Indian Community School (SR), Salmiya and Rhruthunanda of Indian Learners Own Academy, Abbasiya won the consolation prizes in senior and junior categories respectively.

This year, the event was fully conducted by the ladies wing of Friday Forum. Dr. Thasneem Amir, Ibtisam Basheer, Toast Masters Ola Rasheed, Fatma Abduhedeid, Shazia Thabassum and Marium Rangat were the judges for the competition in senior and junior categories. The event started with the Qira’at by Saneera Riyas, followed by welcome speech by Dr. Sajna Mohammed. 

The prizes were distributed to winners by Shahina Mansoor, Femitha Faseeh, Dr.Thasneem Amir, Dr. Sajna Mohammed, Zeenath Yacoub, Safna Sayam and Saneera Riyas. The Souvenir for the program - “INSPERIA 2020”- was released during the event by the chief editor Farha Abdul Rahman. The program was compered by Thanveera Noushad and the program convenor Subeana Shabeer conveyed the vote of thanks.
